Accomplishing a severely disproportionate amount of the team work and other team responsibilities, not seeing reflection on that most of the time.
Overall it has been great. Good culture, good work flexibility, and clear goals and guidance.
My pay is competitive (not overly competitive).
Adequate pay and fully remote work
They are amable and helpful when something is brought to their attention.
My manager is directly involved in solving my specific hardships and keeping me retained.
They are always receptive of feedback and aim to solve problems brought to them.
There are motivated key players that are willing to help when reached out to.
There are no bad personality apples. They're all upbeat and roll with the punches, if not perfect otherwise.
There are key players across the team and in leadership that are always willing to engage and help.
Being able to directly approach code on a near daily basis and not being drowned in bureaucratic responsibilities.
The current team, overall, is very engaged and responsive. They give a strong impression of wanting the team to succeed.
The pay is not necessarily under (or significantly under) market value. However, it is clear that there are some people that excel and deliver value to the program on scales of 10-20x as much as others and are paid 2-3x as much.
Certain areas of the code (FE) lack expertise and motivated key players. Expected velocity is growing faster than natural expertise/familiarity growth on some teams. The difference in output between key players and other team members is often dramatic (10 to 1).
There is a severe skill/knowledge disparity that leads to no significant team participation in planning. Also, the project planning that is upstream of development is slower than the development and this leads to grasping for the next work items OR working on incomplete info.
A few coworkers get away with doing effectively nothing. Others have a severe lack of quality/reliability in their work that is far below their experience level. They also often forget what the team is doing outside their work. Accountability, self-reflection, and awareness respectively.
It's good that the requirements definition and planning feels like it is done entirely at the team level. However, that also makes it seem like every PO is an island and if they're not doing a good job integrating the whole program may be chaos when seen together.
