I started pre-IPO and the company was fantastic. Over the years I've seen the culture degrade. Eventually left because my manager was a huge micromanager (was a recent IC promoted to manager).
What are some of the best things about your team?
Coworkers are genuinely nice people. Leadership and management are untrustworthy and give a lot of lip service.
What does the leadership team need to get better at?
Spend more time understanding the issues of ICs who are doing the work day in and day out.
What needs to change to make the company culture better?
Take a pause and look at the feedback. Every year the same issues show up in the refine our recipe survey but it's never solved.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
Toast was already a lower paying tech company but over the years stock based compensation dwindled (no auto refreshers like big tech), promotions harder to come by.
