James A. Kirkland — Senior VP, General Counsel & Secretary at Trimble

Mr. James A. Kirkland, also known as Jim, serves as Senior Vice President and Secretary at Trimble Inc. Mr. Kirkland has been General Counsel at Trimble Inc.(also know as Trimble Outdoors) since July 2008 and served as its Assistant Secretary. Mr. Kirkland has a wealth of knowledge of the business and regulatory environments in which Technology efforts operate. Mr. Kirkland served as a Director of Corporate Development, Mergers and Acquisitions of SpinVox Ltd since January 2008. He served as Senior Vice President of Corporate Development of SpinVox Ltd. from October 2007 to January 2008. He served as General Counsel and Senior Vice President of Strategic Affairs of MegaPath Group, Inc. (formerly, Covad Communications Group, Inc.) since October 20, 2003, its Executive Vice President of Strategic Development from February 2007 to September 2007 and also served as its Secretary. He served as Senior Vice President of Spectrum Development and General Counsel at Clearwire Corporation. He served as General Counsel and Senior Vice President of Spectrum Development of Clearwire Technologies, Inc. from March 2001 to October 2003. He began his career in 1984 as an associate at Mintz Levin and served as its Partner since 1992. Mr. Kirkland spent 17 years at Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo P.C. in Washington, D.C., where he specialized in communications law and worked with emerging-growth Internet, wireless and telecommunications companies. He served as Chairman of the Economic Development Working Group for Governor Schwarzenegger's California Broadband Task Force. He serves as a Director of California Emerging Technology Fund. Mr. Kirkland holds BA from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. in 1981 and graduated cum laude with law degree/JD from Harvard Law School in Cambridge, MA in 1984.
