I very much enjoy what I do. I like being a store manager, I enjoy the daily interactions with my team, from the top down.
It has been consistent message the last 4 years.
I like the family atmosphere that we all share.
The people I work with.
The people I work with.
Working with associates that you would consider family and building upon those relationships.
There seems to be clear communication of the direction the company is headed in.
I like my ASM and union team. I promoted most of them and I enjoy watching them grow in the company
The culture and environment are store specific as a leader I can heavily influence the feel of my store which is an intangible that most managers can't achieve in a positive manner.
Peers that are brought into the company are paid significantly more for experiences that can't be verified. Talent that is developed within, are not compensated nearly as well through the merit system. I know for a fact that as a level 1 store manager I make at least 10k less than the Walmart mgrs
I would like to be valued as home grown talent once I got into the Store Manger ranks, people off the street in a reserve position are making at least 10-15k more than I am as a level 1 store manager. I also was shorted on my initial 1st year raise as a 2D even though I was promoted 2x in the year.
