Q&A With Mitel Networks Employees

  • "High" corporate environment. They do not do/act as they say.

  • Superficial.

  • Right now - it's kind of struggling. The company is investing in creating a better culture for employees, but they haven't really rolled much out as of yet.

  • Free covered parking. Fairly descent cafeteria in Plano office building.

  • Not applicable.

  • I wouldn't say it excites me, but the executive management team actually makes an effort to be in our office (which is pretty far from the main US office in Kanata) and interact with us, which was not the case with our previous management before we were acquired last year.

Like a tomb or mausoleum...death is always around the corner. Some good people, but often churn through.

  • Depending on your floor at the "Palace at Dallas" 6th floor vibe is like a Mausoleum. Full of people quietly working to keep their heads down. Depressingly oppressive in a non-overt way. Life sparks occasionally, but typically a gopher town. 5th floor still quiet and corporate, however, there seems to be more pockets of life in some areas. It feels "lighter" on this floor. Nice facilities, decent in-house deli with lackluster vibe that feels old and stodgy.

  • This depends on your office and department as well. Some are very laid back and casual, others are more buttoned-up and conservative.

  • Limited. Preference is to be in office. Varies by manager discretion.

  • Subjective...some folks have the option while the majority must be in the office. Ironic for a company that develops communication systems that are meant for remote/mobile companies.

  • Some remote opportunities. You would think that since Mitel is a collaboration and communications company they would use their own products to enhance work-from-anywhere. Still struggling with " I've got to see you in the office so I know you're working" mentality.

Passive-aggressive - your manager is the first line to deliver HR issues and you're expected to use that channel and HR tags in to deliver the "coup de grace"

  • HR is pretty inconsistent. Some HR reps will throw you under the bus or paint a target on your back, while others are more diplomatic and interested in protecting employees who make complaints in good faith.

  • At will employment. Progressive documentation and then termination.
