They often bring great energy, and can perform despite their personal frustrations with the company, their compensations and the blatant disregard of their situations by the company.
Annual performance evaluations do not allow for any sort promotion or pay, regardless of how consistent and outstanding your performance is. Any attempts to ask for it outside of a performance review are automatically shut down, leaving you with no tools or processes meant for this.
Coworkers genuinely have a bond, even if that bond is personal frustration or struggles. Most people do compartmentalize their personal goals and their overall vibes, and can interact with others with genuine joy. There seems to be a collective effort to be well, in spite of daily struggles.
