Leading with a culture of collaboration vs a culture of fear.
Not including variable pay component to all full time employees is a joke. We sit around and work to help managers get paid better with no skin in the game for the rest of us. It is very de motivating.
Motivating people with fear is only effective in the short term. There will come a time when the music stops and the results will be horrible because people were too afraid to tell the truth about the environment they were operating in.
They gave me a case study to put together and present to a panel and a test problem to solve on the spot. Was difficult, but not overly so. I honestly appreciated the effort they put into the process. Plus, I like a challenge. ;)
