Nu Skin tries but they have shifted their priorities over the last few years and, in the process, have gone further down the path of relegating employees to assets. They aren't keeping what makes them special, but they are still fair. It's the trajectory that worries me.
What makes you most happy at work?
Being trusted to try something new by my team. If it works, we celebrate. If it doesn't, we try to learn. They might think it, but they don't say "I told you so."
What are some of the best things about your team?
Ideas. Most members of my team are interested in hearing ideas and sharing their experiences. They are open and encouraging, even if they see obstacles. For the most part, I trust them. We try to have transparency among team members.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
Everyone wants to help others succeed. There isn't the cattiness and undermining that you find elsewhere. There are issues and we've had drama, but I've found everyone receptive to context and determined to help how they can, both personally and professionally.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
I love my job and I pour a lot into it, but there is not proportional compensation to growth and increased responsibility unless that responsibility is highly visible. Behind the scenes or unglamorous roles don't get much progress and aren't taken as seriously when they want advancement and raises.
What does the leadership team need to get better at?
The exec team doesn't seem as invested in retaining talent and fostering growth as they are in rapid expansion and growth. There is a pervasive feeling that if you can't blindly get on board, you will not be missed. It makes it hard to feel invested in the company goals and trust leadership.
