Mr. Parneros served as Chief Operating Officer of Barnes & Noble, Inc. since November 21, 2016 until April 27, 2017. Mr. Parneros has 30 years of leadership experience in all aspects of retail management, including operations, human resources, merchandising, e-commerce, marketing and real estate. He served as President of North American Stores & Online at Staples, Inc. since January, 2013 until March 31st 2016. Mr. Parneros served as the President of U.S. Stores at Staples Inc., since April 2002 until January 2013, where he was responsible for retail operations throughout the United States. He served in a wide variety of positions in the retail organization including, human resources, marketing, merchandising and store operations. Since 1997, he served as Senior Vice President of Staples, Inc., where he was responsible for all stores in the Mid???Atlantic and Southern U.S. He joined Staples as a General Manager in 1987 and opened the first Staples store in New York City. He began his retail career as a management trainee in Macy's New York division. He was responsible for a team of 50,000 associates, across 1,800 stores and online business at Staples, Inc. He has been a Director of KeyCorp. since January 16, 2014 and Barnes & Noble, Inc. since May 1, 2017. Mr. Parneros received his B.S. from New York University's Stern School of Business.
