Q&A With Cornerstone OnDemand Employees

A culture created less by what we do and more by who we are. When people are asked to describe the team, the answer is always the same: smart, cool, dependable and visionary.

How employees describe working at Cornerstone OnDemand

Cornerstone is the most amazing company I've working at. People are smart, accessible and grateful. Everything is put in place for employees to succeed.

Review from Sales Dept

Good experience. The culture has drastically changed since Saba acquisition. Saba folks are still working in silos and not open to collaboration. It's a difficult phase but happy to have good immediate upper management which keeps me focussed.

Review from IT Dept

Work with people from different areas in the world is great experience. Working with software that helps people with learning is also kind of a mission for me :)

Review from IT Dept

Self-driven, self-motivated group of individuals. Highly committed to the cause.

Review from Engineering Dept

The company is making too many changes all at once. There's no time to process all of it.

Excellent. They build relaxation and stress releasing activity into the calendar. If you are lucky enough to be at SaMo head office, the facilities further expand to include onsite yoga, relaxation pods and a 80s/90s game room.

  • Work/life balance is amazing! The company has a culture of "as long as you get your work done", so many developers work from home some days.

There seems to be blatant favoritism regarding promotions or switching teams. Managers pick favorites rather than promote who deserve it.

  • I feel undervalued because my manager overlooks my work and takes credit for my work. I can't get promoted b/c of the CEO's performance plan

  • Santa Monica is an expensive geography. We should be thoughtful of this and provide effective financial mitigation.

  • Cornerstone is growing up. It is changing from a 'typical' silicone valley company and beginning to take more mature views on certain things. I hope that in doing so it will keep enough of what made it special, while acknowledging the need for a more corporate attitude as it grows.

  • Maybe a nap room? Everything is pretty great here though.

  • Wouldn't change it

Several live and phone interviews with different people, depending on the job role, including IT solution demos and presentations. The interview process includes HireRight, a research agency for jobs and salary. It is quite questionable, how deep they dig and if all is in accordance with data protection rules.

  • The interview process is pretty long. The first contact is with someone on the Talent Management team (HR) who goes over the position and team as well as the company (typical first contact call). Then your resume is forwarded to the team who will look at it and call you if they're interested. This usually means going over your skills and doing some basic programming tests over the phone (just basic things). If you pass that, they ask you to come in and everyone from the team will interview you. There's whiteboarding, personality questions, etc. Nothing too crazy, but pretty deep.
