The management works with the strong core values of the company's PAST. Since the pandemic, the company has not cared about the people- who are the building blocks to the success of the company! They seem to only care about monetary value and not experiences anymore.
understandable caring and best mangers i ever had
nothing, there was no interaction
positive reinforcement and praise for doing well and improvement
They need to take classes for management, how to talk to their employees. Manager has a double personality disorder sometimes she is nice and sometimes she acts unfriendly. They're not professional at all at DSW in Old orchard store in Skokie. They need management training.
Learning to talk to employees and having respect for employees
Just better training. They dont really train you ans then are shocked when you cant do somethiing
Communication, active listening, customer servicing
Maturity and accountability. They need to have patience
It has grear health benefits

Heath i insurance and paid time off
Review from Operations Dept
PTO is great and there are several educational opportunities
We havent received a bonus un 2 years that was the best part
NA, provided no answer for this question
If they offer affordable insurance to all employees
I believe they severely underpay people in management & only provide funding for personnel in sales associate roles due to minimum wage raises. Example- a 3rd level manager of 6 years makes $18/hr while an associate who is under 1 year makes $16.50/hr. No allowed conversation compensation tolerated.
Basing a managers rate of pay off of rhe area the store is in tather then on the roll in which they fill is unfair. A supervisor in one city will be making far leas then one in another ciry simply nased on "fair market value" yet asked to di the same job as the one getting pair more.
Literally you are expected to do everything if working the register. You have to ring people up, process returns, do recovery, do markdowns, clean, and accept that disrespect from coworkers and customers as if you don't have feelings and just to accept it without complaining.

Should be paid more to deal with some of these customers
They all share one goal

Meeting new people and telling customer about the vip program
We make each other stronger with in the team
Review from Operations Dept
Very collaboritive group they work well together
The team I have built in my store is based off of the company's past culture. The culture the company wishes to portray is great- but contradicts the company's actions. They want people to feel valued- but then cut bonuses in half due to technical online ordering system errors not of our fault.
Coworkers are lazy. Always on their phone texting walking around the store doing nothing not working. Management needs to improve in training people they hired before putting them on the floor to work.
Talk to the employees more so no one feels left out.
Review from Sales Dept
The coworkers I did interact with all seemed very nice
Review from Sales Dept
To have a better attitude about working together.
I realize that no costumer is attended to. No one interacts with them. They need help and the most fulfilling process interpersonal skills. You when as you loose but don’t take it to heart, it is no reflection of them. Teamwork is essential not just with your favorite ether. So much mo

Everyone works different. It depends on the individual training and experience.
The customers and styles and letting the customer know about the style they like and want
The associates interacting with each other
Review from Operations Dept
I like some employees but i feel like a place holder and third in line. Im never in the loop, and i am just here for when they go on vacations
Management, quality of employees, and respect!
Checking in on managers. The store manager at my store became a real issue the last few months I worked there. She was rude to me and got upset with us a lot. She would try and put all of her job duties onto us and then get mad when we didnt finish our own tasks
My store manager focuses on checking off diversity marks but has underlying focuses of making herself look good to corporate and not necessarily caring about associates cultures.

THere needs to be a new manager and district manager
Change the assistant manager for sure. Her attitude doesn't bring me joy to come to work. I feel like my work there is useless and unappreciated. Yet i have to deal with all the comments that she makes.
Review from Sales Dept
The manager who is not longer in company had a positive attitude and approaching on how to talk.
More than one manager interview
Review from Operations Dept
Met leadership team and understood their values
It was with my ASM back in 2021 and it was very professional, nothing I hear now from our new employees that are hired about the hiring process
My manager and ASM bith were present and transparent on job duties, expectations and really gave me a welcoming feeling that continued through my time with them.
Ask for availability of employees
Hire managers that are realistic and qualified
I would ask about experience with retail, customer service, and get an understanding on what brings them in to want to work at DSW
Straight forward interview process. Please be more transparent about how the company operates and especially how dysfunctional senior leadership is. I pity any new team members walking into this company.
It should go into more detail about whats expected of you.
Being with my team mates

What used to make me happy was the drive to grow, learn, and gain experience- as of recently, they have bled us so dry and spread us so thin with more work, less support, and then inaccurate/ unfair reviews. Example- 40% of performance based on a program with severe technical issues (Fulfillment).
I like helping the customers.
to be an effective leader
The people that i work with in the store
Management can be improved on how to approach their workers. Place of work needs better service for employees. Perhaps hired a cleaning company to clean up the store after hours every day. Heating and hot water needs to improved in store. One of the reasons employees get sick.
I feel my manager is not a good fit for the role and a store visit where higher up or HR comes in and talks to each associate one on one about her to discuss how everyone feels, because I feel everyone's feelings deserved to be validated!
Management needs to check in on employees. Management is also fine with talking bad about employees right in front of them. There is seemingly no patience for new employees since you're expected to do everything and know everything about how to do every task despite not being trained.
Review from Sales Dept
Social with costumer and find enjoyment and fulfillment. Learn tougher skin and roll of the bad because interactions come and go everyday. Management need to be responsible and address issues then excuse bad and inconsiderate behavior. Keep public language professional
Review from Sales Dept
The manager needs to make the schedules fairly so that we all have opening mid and closing shifts
