Executive Bio

Mary Beth Laughton is the head of Athleta, a certified B Corporation and premium fitness and lifestyle brand that creates versatile, performance apparel to inspire a community of active, confident women and girls. In addition to leading Athleta, Mary Beth oversees the company’s Canadian business?across Gap Inc.

With more than 20 years of retail and digital leadership, Mary Beth has a strong background in driving omni-channel growth through innovative experiences. During her tenure at Athleta, Mary Beth has grown the store fleet to over 200 locations, guided the business to reach $1B in net sales, and expanded the brand to new points of distribution including Canada and other international markets. She has increased brand awareness and brought the brand’s mission to life by establishing partnerships with athletes Simone Biles and Allyson Felix and through building a digital community, AthletaWell.

Previously, Mary Beth spent nine years at Nike, where she held a variety of strategy, merchandising and e-commerce roles, including three years as General Manager for Nike’s e-commerce business in Europe. She became a board member of Impossible Foods in August 2020 and was previously a board member of REI.

Mary Beth graduated from Indiana University and holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. She lives in the Bay Area with her husband and two children.
