Gopuff was founded in 2013 by co-CEOs Rafael Ilishayev and Yakir Gola when they were college students at Drexel University. The Philadelphia-based company now operates more than 600 micro-fulfillment centers in more than 1000 markets across the United States, including Chicago and its suburbs. It has been a great experience working at Gopuff. While I took a step back in responsibilities, I have learned a lot and feel that I'm making positive contributions to the company with more to come.
What makes you most happy at work?
Working with great people. Also, having a workload that keeps me challenged and really busy with reasonable extra hours, but not so heavy that it is a burnout situation.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
I took a pay cut (in annual cash) to make the move to Gopuff. There are others within the org who are a level below me who make over $200k more in equity.
What do you like best about the leadership team?
They're best-in-class talent. The lead with empathy and humility. They're accessible and play the team sport. They are investing in their talent and they appreciate/celebrate a lot of the small wins. I love the fact that they don't tolerate or encourage high egos.
What are some of the best things about your team?
Gopuff interviews well against our cultural values. The low-ego and action-orientation are qualities from all. Everyone acknowledges chaos and problems, but sticks together to drive through/solve. New ideas are welcome and the opportunity to build is a great challenge which is encouraged by all.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
The great people who emulate our core values. The remote nature of the work allows employees to manage their schedules which is great for working parents, students, etc. Our leaders foster open communication and their team calls help people to understand what is happening behind the scenes.
