After being a full time employee for a long time, I was suddenly, without notice, cut to part time and my insurance and benefits dropped. This is because Guitar Center is incapable or unwilling to manage it's payroll finances correctly across the chain.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
That everyone there loves music.
What did you like most about the interview process?
It was normal. I already had over 5 years MI sales experience when I came to GC.
What are some of the best things about your team?
Everyone who works at Guitar Center at the store level does it for the joy of helping people make music. It is their passion. Shamefully our executives exploit this.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
Even with annual reviews and commission, Guitar Center is the worlds largest musical instrument and industry retailer and fails to compensate for experience in MI based on credentials like AES/AVIXA certifications.
What does the leadership team need to get better at?
At the store level, my leadership team is great. At the corporate/executive level, there is a huge disconnect between what is going on in the stores making deployment extremely difficult sometimes because of their complete lack of understanding or empathy to associates or customers.
