HealthStream Leadership Employee Reviews

What do you like best about the leadership team?

CEO makes an effort to be approachable, relatable, and in touch with our customer base, from end-users to buyers.

Everyone is very approachable and easy to talk with.

Great leadership by example / Visionary / Thoughtful

Smart, visionary leaders, have good ideas

Great communication and willingness to help

They seen to be transparent and avaliable

There are some hardworking nice people

Review from Product Dept

The vulnerability they show to the entire company. The generosity they exemplify. The kindness they show to all people. They are remarkable people.

Their passion and engagement in our initiatives - leading and not managing. Setting great examples of how to be our best.

The Executive Team exudes a positive, open, and communicative approach to building the company for our customers and for the development opportunities of its employees.

Review from Marketing Dept

I feel like they are good people. People I trust.

The leadership team is very in touch with the employees. They have Town Hall meetings twice a month that are just like check-ins, but it's nice to hear from the CEO so frequently.

Review from Communications Dept

The leadership team here at HealthStream goes above and beyond to make the work culture both warm and inviting while still pushing to maintain effective and determined goals for the company as a whole.

Review from Product Dept

Managing Principle is good, caring people, positive

Review from Engineering Dept

Collaborative, Open, Insightful, and Provide clear direction.

Review from Sales Dept

The leadership team is present and available for the most part.

Review from Sales Dept

They are open and honest. They usually listen to reason. And they welcome feedback. For the most part, they care about their employees.

Review from Engineering Dept

They are very open about the future direction of the company and how each person will help fulfill that direction.

Review from IT Dept

Productive and efficient without usual stress

Review from IT Dept

The leadership team is very visible & approchable. When we were all in the office (pre-covid), leadership is not "hidden" in big offices, etc. they are out-and-about in the office and genuinely interact and are involved in the day-to-day of employee lives. They go to company events, big or small.

Review from Communications Dept

What does the leadership team need to get better at?

If there's gonna be a restructuring instead of laying someone off, give them the opportunity to move to a different location within the company that's what they used to allow now they just make you reapply, which is discouraging especially for a 6 year employee

Review from Customer Support Dept

Scaling the improvements made internally and client facing. More transparency about where we are headed. It feels like we only have part of the end goal and story line, as if we are on a need to know basis.

Review from Customer Support Dept

They need to get better at the people side of their role. I talk to my leader on average once per month and I have to initiate the meetings I have with them. They need to know their products better so true collaboration could exist and so that they can share their knowledge with new staff.

Take a look at mid and senior level managers in software development. Some of these mangers are very unethical and tarnishing your reputation.

Review from IT Dept

Relating to the people who work for them. Understanding what they don't know by reaching outside their immediate circle deliberately. Town Halls are nice, but they're never really a dialogue. Calling HSTMers is nice, but starting at the top of the seniority chart is a bad optic and a bad strategy.

Review from Communications Dept

More communication across all departments... the left hand needs to know what the right hand is doing.

Review from Finance Dept

Listen to customers and employees working with our solutions everyday to understand how to make them better. Listen to them as you conceive new products. Innovation is not only creating new things, it is making what you created better.

We often have employees that move to another company so they can get a raise in compensation, only to come back within a couple years, if not months. I think leadership could do a better job to compensate employees to standard rates and try to retain talent looking for competitve pay.

Review from Engineering Dept

Understanding that technology is changing. Give employees that show initiative more leadership roles.

organization, prioritization, collaboration between departments

Better communication and addressing turnover

HealthStream has a systemic culture issue when it comes to working cross functionally. It's the only organization I've worked for that has internal team members who ignore emails from their peers or ask that you not reach out to other departments. At HSTM it's acceptable to not work as a team.

Review from Sales Dept

Providing more support to individual team members. Providing more training for employees. Being more open about what is expected of the job and my performance.

Review from Customer Support Dept

Listening, pay at market value, stop using the phrase "we're the best 1st and 3rd job". Says a lot about the value they place on their employees. The CEO told us that our 401(K) plan is a perk so to speak-while he is a lifelong multi-millionaire. This is our retirement-not a perk.

planning with more detail, like including impact and risk instead of just satisfaction

Nothing, they are great and through the covid-19 pandemic really showed how much they care for the employees safety.

The culture is the best I have ever seen!! EVER! One huge improvement to keep top talent would be to allow for 100% remote work. Traffic in and around Nashville is unreal during normal times. Housing prices are out of reach in some areas too. Allowing 100% remote work would allow for better balance.

Get to know more of the employees. Some of us have never had causal conversations with leadership.

Review from IT Dept

I like the visibility, more of that is good

Emphasizing skill building among new employees and interns.
