Dr. Carl J. Johnson co-founded II-VI Inc. in 1971 and served as its Chief Executive Officer from 1985 to July 1, 2007. Dr. Johnson served as the President of II-VI Inc. from 1971 to 1985. From 1966 to 1971, Dr. Johnson served as Director of Research & Development for Essex International, Inc., an automotive electrical and power distribution products manufacturer. From 1964 to 1966, Dr. Johnson worked at Bell Telephone Laboratories as a Member of the technical staff. He served as the Chairman of the Board at II-VI Incorporated from 1985 to November 7, 2014 and served as its Director since 1971. Dr. Johnson serves as a Director of Xymox Technologies, Inc. and Armstrong Laser Technology, Inc. Dr. Johnson completed his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at the University of Illinois in 1969. He holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), respectively.
