Working with somebody remote like me is challenging, but I think they do a great job. If more people people sometimes would reach out just to shoot the breeze, it might help somewhat.

There's clear favoritism shown by leadership for certain departments, and that in turn engenders a culture of department-centrism and at times hinders communication and collaboration.

Meetings should happen in conference rooms. Open office spaces should promote easy access to productive collaboration--too often, what happens instead is the ongoing disruption of concentration of everyone in the room. If the tone of the meeting was negative, that tends to "hang" over the room.
