Having the ability to do extra learning during work as opposed to never being able to improve myself as a developer. Then, using that new knowledge to improve our systems, architecture, etc.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
The work I do is much more complicated than an average software engineer's. As such, I will make fewer pull-requests and fewer lines of code changed per unit time. If git metrics are used to judge a dev's productivity, then someone doing easy work will be paid more than those doing difficult work.
