What makes you most happy at work?

I like to work at a fast pace, i go in and do my job

New projects, holiday seasons, training employees, going over the store numbers. Weird stuff like that.

My job in general keeps me happy and busy again I enjoy working with the small group of women that I work with in the shop we all get along quite well it would just be better if we didn't have the little Dominator for our store leader

The flexibility to do what you need for the team

Caring for the animals, caring for the good customers and finding innovative ways to market differently vs other stores as well as merchandise exceptionally compared to other stores. I volunteer at other stores and I teach them every time.

What's going wrong and how can it be improved?

Remove corporate stooges that only care about money.

Stoo closing the store early

Lack of labor and training. Forced selling of memberships

Prices keep going up and the foot traffic is going down. Make VCP more marketable. Offer discounts on supplies or more rewards.

A lot of the products being sold are useless and expensive and customers know this and do boice out anout it. Some come here do to they only have 2 choices, petco or petsmart that is convienate for them. Some of the products we have I would never use for my pet. Voice out and nothing never changes.

Get rid of management team and find others

Field leadership thinks they know what is best but each store has a separate demographic that creates a unique culture of issues. Not all stores operate the same due to this and each one is expected to be ran the same as a high volume high staffed location out west.

The way the company undervalues the true reason the company is successful...the front line workers!

Our customers see that we are short staffed. They see that one cashier is getting fish for a group of people while they wait to be checked out. We can't keep great customer service if we can't provide it.

The company's losing employees like an unstoppable flood of diarrhea. Maybe if they treated and paid us better we'd actually stick around.

Little brand equity. Company was over leveraged for a long time, and as a result a lack of investment in marketing, people, and private label products.

High workload with minimal resources. Inability to hire at fair and competitive wages and retain talent.

Every store is understaffed because corporate is being cheap with how much hours we are allowed to schedule. Quit being cheap. Start caring about your retail workers and the live animals in our care

The new CEO. He is going to do wonderful things for that company. The work is enjoyable, and most customers are great! The satisfaction of the job is good, they just need to pay better for employee retention.
