How's the work life balance at PNC?
Top Employee Response
Work/life balance is important at PNC and one of the values they are cmitted to. My work schedule has averaged between 45-50 hours per week and I expect it will come down to 40-45 hours when as roles are filled.
It's pretty good. Many of our associates now participate in a telecommuting program that allows you to work from home part time, with certain restrictions and requirements attached.
A total facade. No support or guidance and the leadership don’t care at the branch level. Toxic and intense environment.
How does PNC make decisions around promotions?
Top Employee Response
Absolutely not. Its a culture of promotion politics over merit. People who perform expect to be “paid for performance” they promote non performers first becausecthey don’t have to provide additional compensation.
What promotions, oh, you mean the two-faced, brown nosers... they have you apply and then go through another interview and hiring process for that position.
PNC doesn’t always promote based on the best qualified. Promotions are slow in coming, however they have no problem enabling you to do the job but without the pay or title.
How's the vacation policy at PNC?
Top Employee Response
Ask FAR in advance and don't expect to get a "Yes" especially during any holiday and not just the major ones, which you shouldn't even think about asking for them off!!!
you have to pay back if you leave
Vacation days you get are improving although there is no carry over from year to year which is a problem if you don’t take it all by years end.
Does PNC have any remote positions?
Yes, at least two I know of.
Yes, PNC allows work from home.
Yes. In many positions at PNC, a fuul time employee may request the priviledge of working from home one or two days a week after working there for 90 days.
What do people at PNC think about the CEO? What do they do well and what can they improve?
Top Employee Response
Didn't even know his name while I worked there, only my immediate supervisor and his report system. They sound great when they are getting you on board; however, they could improve their customer service by ensuring other departments own their own mistakes and allow customer service to do their job in ensuring their customers get the help they need and deserve. I am SO glad I bank with an institution that their reps are great and do not make you feel like you should get off the phone as quickly as possible like PNC enforces their reps to.
The CEO is awesome
He seems fair. I don’t have much interaction with him so I’m not really sure.
What are the team outings like at PNC?
Top Employee Response
What team outings????!?!?!!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Non existent
Fun.
How much diversity is there among employees at PNC?
Top Employee Response
A lot, but a lot of racism and other prejudices internally and shown to customers I have heard from customers!
PNC is very Diversified.
There is a good bit of diversity in the Technology & Innovation dept
What's one thing you wish you'd known before joining PNC?
Top Employee Response
What it was like to work for them before I had to start!
You have to get the maximum you can get coming in because raises are sparse. Also slow to promote from within. Which causes a ton of turnover.
That annual raises are usually small.
What part of PNC's business is growing fastest? What part is having difficulties?
Nothing growing anywhere, difficulties everywhere in all departments.
Technology driven positions are growing the fastest. However, PNC has a huge age discrimmination problem.
Digital is absolutely growing the fastest.
How long after an interview at PNC does it take to hear back?
Top Employee Response
3 weeks to a month.
The same day or two days.
Does PNC drug test or do a background check?
Yes both
Definite drug testing, I don't know about the background check, I passed it if they do.
What's the best part of your job at PNC?
Helping those customers I could to understand what was going on with their accounts, fixing what I could and trying to get them to the correct department if I couldn't!
The teams I work with, they are very good.
How's the feedback proccess at PNC?
Top Employee Response
You can tell your Team Leads about a problem or issue, but you will start to be labeled a tattletale or someone who complains or gripes a lot and never say that another department is not taking their calls they should be as it is always your department in customer service that can handle everything, but you have no authority to fix most things!
Tempered, they ask for it but do little to fix or slow to implement changes.
How's the work pace at PNC?
Top Employee Response
FAST, absolutely NO break between calls to take a sip of water, no time to make your notes, and don't let the customer take too long on the call as you have to keep your calls to an average of under 4 minutes and that includes time taken between calls!
Fast paced highly technical.

How secure do you feel at your job at PNC?
Top Employee Response
PNC is a very secured workplace.
I was a mentor, a Quality assistant, my numbers were superb, so I was comfortable in doing my job, but with PNC, it doesn't matter if you never miss a day of work, come in half dead and sick, never get reprimanded for doing anything wrong or if your numbers are amazing ... they'll claim you committed fraud because you did the job they asked you to do and fire you with no warning! So, your job is not secure, but you may feel secure after time in doing your job while you still have it!
How's the morale at PNC?
LOW, abysmal, but the TL's are really good at lying to you and trying to tell you that everything's peachy!
It’s gotten much better the last couple years. They’ve started trying to be more financially competitive with attracting new talent but they still have a long way to go with taking care of their long term loyal employees.
What unique perks and benefits does PNC provide?
What perks or benefits?! Oh, I did mention the discount on gym membership, they have break rooms....
PNC has excellent 401k benefits and has a pension that the employees don’t have to pay into.
What's the office layout like at PNC?
You're a peon in a cubicle, make sure you remember where you sit or decorate your cubicle to be able to find it, unless they move you again, and then you'll have to find where they put you this time!
PNC if very tecnology driven. They adapted Agile floors, which are open work spaces.
What interview questions does PNC ask?
I was never asked questions, not sure what they ask now.
Questions are based on job profile and hiring to job competencies.
If you could make changes, how would you improve the culture at PNC?
Make it more an actual team atmosphere. When one dept makes a mistake, another person shouldn't get the shaft for doing their job.
Agile transformation is helping to shift the culture but more needs to be done. Upper management in the traditional business lines need to get out of the waterfall mindset. Being rigid on dates and project scope creates a lot of conflicts. Line of Business product managers need to have a better vision of where they are going so that shifting priorities don't cause lost work and inefficiencies. We often lack good in house resources for design and development and this causes us to rely a lot on contract employees. Some of these folks are awesome and some are sub-par. We do have some highly engaged folks in Digital but we've have grown fast. Not sure we have the right structure to support our size.
What's the interview process like at PNC?
Top Employee Response
We generally hold panel interviews. Interviews include an overview of your education and work history and then move into behavioral questions.
In my area, first Interview is with the hiring manager. Could be second interviews if it’s warranted. We may want others to talk to candidates to get outside opinions.
What is the dress code at PNC?
Business attire but quite frankly the bank isn't held to very high standards. Shockingly, I've seen some pretty raggedy looking staff at different branches. I guess it depends on the area.
