Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility at Red Robin

Red Robin is a company that cares; we strive to make the world a better place for our Team Members, our community, and our planet. We are undertaking a more formal and robust sustainability journey with meaningful goals to align with the industry standards provided by the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (the "SASB"). We will continue to adapt our sustainability approach integrated with our North Star strategic priorities. Please find the latest Sustainability Report here:

Over the last several years, Red Robin has taken steps to reduce climate risk, including the following actions: (i) switched to energy efficient LED lighting in our corporate owned restaurants (ii) experimented with using solar panels in select restaurants, (iii) actively managed energy and water usage, and (iv) expanded our recycling and waste reduction efforts.

SWITCHING TO LED LIGHTING
We began saving more than 5.5 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually with our switch in 2009 to all energy-efficient LED lighting in our company-owned restaurants. That's roughly equal to planting 923 acres of trees or removing 4,060 metric tons of CO2 from the atmosphere annually.

HARVESTING SOLAR POWER
By piloting solar panels at three of our Colorado restaurants, we've already contributed to lowering demand for electric power generation from local power plants and reducing carbon dioxide and other emissions.

MANAGING ENERGY
Red Robin was the first kitchen operator to receive a Certificate of Recognition by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in March 2013 for “Sharing Your Story” and contributing to a healthier climate by encouraging others to save energy and money with ENERGY STAR® commercial service food equipment.

RECYCLING
At our restaurant support center, we recycle paper, cardboard, glass, plastic, steel and aluminum containers. We eliminated much of our paper, energy, ink and transportation waste by changing to electronic funds transfer.

PACKAGING OPTIMIZATION
Packaging Optimization: We continue to experiment with our off-premise and beverage packaging. In 2022, we removed over 150,0000 pounds of Styrofoam packaging from our corporate-owned restaurants, replacing them with fiber alternatives.

GHG EMISSIONS
In 2022, we first published our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, in line with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standards. We expect that establishing this baseline and tracking year-to-year will help us visualize annual improvements.

RED ROBIN FOUNDATION
We’ve always believed in giving back to our Team Members and the communities in which we work and do business. But something quite remarkable happened when our Team Members themselves decided to get involved. In 2006, they established the Red Robin Foundation as a way of sharing the unbridled culture of our company with each other, and with the communities where we operate restaurants. The Red Robin Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity. The tax-exempt status of the Foundation provides donors the opportunity to be kind to their neighbors and share in our Unbridled Spirit through our Giving Fund and Community Outreach Program.

SUPPORTING OUR COMMUNITIES:
FUNDRAISERS
We're excited, once again, to be helping the communities where we do business. Red Robin will now give 20% of To-Go sales back to your organization when you host a Spirit Night fundraiser. Health and safety are our top priorities, and we are continuing measures to help curb the spread of COVID-19. For that reason, To-Go fundraisers and Gift Card fundraisers will be held in place of Dine-in fundraisers.

DENVER KIDS INC.
Team Members at Red Robin's Home Office in Denver pitch in every year to deliver holiday cheer to Denver-area families through its annual holiday drive to support Denver Kids, Inc., a non-profit organization that helps at-risk students in Denver's inner city. 2020 marked the 23rd consecutive year that Red Robin's Home Office team has "adopted" local families in need of assistance and provided holiday gifts for family members, as well as gift cards from local grocery retailers and toiletries. To date, Red Robin's support of Denver Kids has brightened the holiday season for more than 820 families, representing more than 3,950 people.

BLESSINGS IN A BACKPACK
Guests have the opportunity to donate to Blessings in a Backpack right from their table-top payment device while dining in. Red Robin is partnering with Blessings in a Backpack to help improve the lives of hungry kids. The impact of Blessings in a Backpack goes beyond easing hunger pangs. At such a young age, food insecurity can impact a child's health, social development, cognitive growth, and general well-being. Blessings in a Backpack provides food on the weekends for school-aged children across America who might otherwise go hungry. Kids leave school on Friday with food in their backpacks. The process is discreet, and no special trip is needed to get the food. Schools report that attendance is up on Friday because of Blessings in a Backpack. Items in backpacks are kid-friendly in both taste and ease of preparation to help ensure the kids eat and enjoy the blessings in their backpacks every weekend.
