What's the pay like for Marketing roles at RevLocal?
Top Employee Response
It's not market rate and the actual calculations for pay are in no way transparent.
Underpaid, not close to market value.
Underpaid compared to other SEO/Social Media marketing companies.
What's the work from home policy like at RevLocal?
Top Employee Response
It's more of a "Bodies in Seats" policy
Unsure. It is very easy to work remotely in the position itself but it doesn't seem that they trust employees to do so.
The above answers regarding "they don't seem to trust employees to do so" and that they discourage were true pre-covid. Since then they were forced to implement a wfh policy. Now (june 2021) people are coming back to the office and the propaganda to get people in the office is strong. They are still letting people wfh but I fear it may end soon...
How flexible is your work schedule at RevLocal?
Top Employee Response
It has varied depending on my team but it's not flexible usually.
Depends on your manager.
For a company that is primarily working with clients across the country, it's not at all. Especially considering the Columbus job market. It's one of the least flexible and there's no real reason it needs to be that way.
What's the vibe like in the Marketing dept at RevLocal? How many hours are you working?
The vibe depends on the dept. You must work long hours and may end up working for free as you’re considered salary pay without overtime pay.
It's casual but most people are extremely busy. You see a lot of people eating at their desks
The vibe can be pretty chill, but you tend to work up to 10 hrs/day not including team building exercises outside the building. Examples are going to corn mazes, going to bars & restaurants, etc. all on Friday nights.
How do I do well in an interview at RevLocal?
Top Employee Response
Make sure you’re coming off as extremely interested & DO NOT mention anyone else you may be courting for a job unless you state that you’ve been looking around & RevLocal blows everyone else out of the water & that you’re highly interested and no longer pursuing the other job ops even if you really are.
Know what digital marketing is.
Know the industry
How long do the interviews usually take at RevLocal?
Several Hours
several hours
Approximately an hour
What should I wear for an interview at RevLocal?
Full Business Atire
Professional attire
I’d wear business dress attire to stand out & make yourself look READY for the job.
What's the Marketing team like at RevLocal?
Top Employee Response
It really depends on what department you’re assigned to. Some are laid back while others are tightly run.
The marketing team is very mixed in functionality based on managers of each department. Some are great while others are not.
Problems start at the top. And some managers are great but others are awful. It's random and not based on skill or ability
How's the leadership on the Marketing team at RevLocal?
Top Employee Response
Agree that there's little to no accountability in management and exec. The high turnover and quality employees leaving routinely while the same handful of directors are never held responsible for creating an environment hostile to many employees.
The leadership team here leaves much to be desired especially at the executive level. They do not hold one another accountable for mistakes or other undesirable actions, yet they’ll use corrective action liberally on lower level employees arbitrarily for things others do regularly because policies are very hazy. This is just one reason turnover is very high.
It depends on the marketing department.
What unique perks and benefits does RevLocal provide?
Top Employee Response
There isn't anything unique. In fact, it's far below many companies in Columbus when it comes to amenities. Very bare bones. Definitely no flexibility so I'm not sure where that came from.
Monthly massages for every employee, a workout area fully equipped w/ locker rooms & showers, walking/running trail, & a ping pong room to let steam off while working.
RevRecess, adult recess is scheduled monthly. Lots of personal growth and development opportunities. Flexible work schedule.
What's one thing you wish you'd known before joining RevLocal?
Top Employee Response
That pay increases sometimes aren't even up to inflation so whatever you get when you start you'll always be stuck making relative to inflation. There really isn't any way to grow financially
That I would never really make enough money and no matter how the company "grows" they like to fill it with recent grads who don't yet need benefits and have no expectations.
I wish I would have known how much my life would change with the relationships I've built with co-workers. It is really amazing how much this company cares about its employees, customers and the value its creating in the Digital Marketing industry.
How's the vacation policy at RevLocal?
Top Employee Response
For home office it's nowhere near 3 weeks. Max 14 days PTO and that is used for everything from sick days, vacation, appointments, whatever.
Very slim and stingy unless you’re part of upper management, executives, or directors.
3 weeks PTO. Flexible.
What would cause you to leave your job at RevLocal?
Top Employee Response
Nothing.
A decent job offer.
Better opportunity for advancement, flexible work options, market rate salary. I plan on looking in a year or two unless I see there are opportunities within Revlocal.
How do you feel about RevLocal's future?
It will continue to exist on the backs of the sales associates contacts by way of churn and burn.
It depends on a lot of things. The company will be fine because it's focused on the company and the Executive Team's success. However, this doesn't always mean employees lower down have a future.
I watched the Digital Marketing Strategists go from 10 to 85 in just a few years. I watched positioned being created because of growth almost monthly. I don't see this ending for a long time.
How are the managers in the Marketing department at RevLocal?
Depends. There are good ones, but most of them are poor managers.
It depends. It's very dependent on who is there at the time and how close they are to the director.
What are the team outings like at RevLocal?
Top Employee Response
My team rarely has any and they aren't much. We pay for everything out of pocket.
We don't have them very often so it's hard to say.
In your opinion, what are the most common interview questions that RevLocal asks?
Experience, knowledge of industries
Marketing knowledge and the ability to work with challenging clients
How would you describe your overall experience interviewing at RevLocal?
Long but the people I shadowed were really nice
It was a great interview process, but be prepared to lose your current salary as they tend to low ball you on your benefits & salary. And keep in mind they are on salary pay w/o overtime pay.
What's the office layout like at RevLocal?
Top Employee Response
No frills. It is an open office that can get very noisy and it's hard to focus or maintain conversations. We don't own the building and share the "cafeteria". It's a place to eat with some snack machines. The fitness facility is one small room with machines. Not bad but nothing you don't have in a basic setup. The walking track is a path around the building.
Open working environment, lots of meeting rooms. There is a large cafeteria, a fitness facility and lots of room outdoors on campus with a walking track.
How much diversity is there among employees at RevLocal?
Top Employee Response
There's diversity in the sense that there are not ender or racial issues. It's more age and experience. It's not at all family friendly especially if you're starting a family. No kind of paid leave, minimum legally required. No flex-time and they don't contribute anything to insurance for spouses or children which is incredibly expensive. If you don't plan on having a family, illness, it's fine. Unfortunately;y this does result in women having less opportunity and compensation.
Strong environment for women, great work life balance for employees with families, flexibility with your schedule.
If you could make changes, how would you improve the culture at RevLocal?
Allow more flexible schedules and opportunities to learn.
Just keep it going.
What part of RevLocal's business is growing fastest? What part is having difficulties?
All of it is growing all the time.
All of it is growing.
What are your coworkers at RevLocal like?
Most of them are awesome. Very hard working and super supportive.
Smart, humble and caring people. The best of the best.
What's the office vibe like at RevLocal?
People are friendly. Typical open office plan that can get very noisy and that causes some stress. You have to hear everything happening around you.
Friendly, caring, responsible, energetic.
How does RevLocal make decisions around promotions?
Top Employee Response
How close you are to the director and whether you've been hand-picked. Very much based on personal relationships.
Results, personal development planning and feedback loop.
