  • (NEW for 2020) Elite Category Qualification Requirement

In the interests of continuing the growth of Spartan OCR as a truly competitive global sport, a competitor may no longer register for any Elite category heat (or purchase an Elite Season Pass) without first meeting qualifying criteria listed below. This rule applies to all Elite category heats starting on January 1st 2020 for events taking place in the United States, Canada or the UK.

Any Elite competitor already registered for an event on or after Wednesday, January 1st 2020 must complete the qualification process, or will be moved to the Age Group category. Competitors who are automatically moved may apply for qualification at a later date.

    Elite Category Qualification Application Process

Any prospective Elite category competitor, whether a prior Spartan participant or not, may submit an application for Elite category qualification via spartan.com. ( Applications may be submitted here.)

Each application requires a one-time payment of a US$30 fee, payable to Spartan HQ upon application submission. This fee covers program administration and processing and is non-refundable in the event of application rejection.

Successful applicants will be emailed a unique Elite Qualifying Code (EQC) which will be good for the remainder of the 2020 season. This code must be input each time the competitor registers for an Elite category heat, or chooses to purchase an Elite Season Pass.

Initial applications will be reviewed within 30 days. Starting on January 1st 2020 all applications will be reviewed within 72 hours.

Denied applicants will have 7 days to dispute their decision without having to repay the application fee. Any disputes after 7 days will require a new application and application fee.

    Elite Category Qualification Criteria

To earn an Elite Qualification Code (EQC), a competitor must be 14 years of age or older as of Wednesday, January 1st 2020 and meet at least one of the following criteria:

One or more top 3 finishes at Spartan OCR events in the Elite and/or Age Group category within the previous 24 months

One or more top 10 finishes within the Elite category at any regular season Spartan OCR event within the previous 12 months

One or more top 5 finishes within any Age Group category at any regular season Spartan OCR event within the previous 12 months

US$2000 or more of lifetime prize money earned to date in the Spartan Elite category. (International Prize money will be converted from local currency to USD based on current exchange rates)

Please note: Age Group category refers to the designated "Age Group" Heat. It does not apply to results in the Open category.

    Elite Category Automatic Qualification

On December 1st 2019, the top male and female athletes from certain 2019 championship series and events will be automatically sent Elite Qualifying Codes (EQC) via email, which will be good for use throughout the 2020 season. These athletes do not need to separately apply for an EQC.

The eligible events for automatic EQC qualification are:

All 2019 National & Regional Series, final leaderboards

    All 2019 championships, final leaderboards

The 2019 World Championship, 2019 Trifecta World Championship, and 2019 Ultra World Championship, final leaderboards.Chart below indicates the number of Automatic Qualification spots PER GENDER.

In addition, all members of the Spartan Pro Roster and selected athletes at any HQ designated Spartan Combine event, will be issued an Elite Qualifying Code (EQC) and do not need to submit an application.

    Downgrading from Elite Category

An Elite competitor with an EQC may freely choose to register for, and compete in, the Age Group or Open categories at any event globally.

Agoge Trifecta: Agoge students must now attempt to complete a Trifecta by earning all three wedges throughout different stages of a single Agoge event

The 60 hour Agoge is a journey of 3 chapters: Preparation, Endurance, and Success.

Each successful completion comes with a Delta Wedge representing that chapter.

Participants must complete the event sequentially and only continue into the next chapter if they successfully earn a wedge for the previous chapter.

Some Delta wedges may not be available in all global regions, however with the large number of combinations available, there are many different paths for a Spartan to complete a Delta.

Q: What are the Delta Icons and how do I get them?

You can complete the Delta in any order you wish.

Q: Where do I get my Spartan Delta Pyramid Display?

  • A member of the Spartan Trifecta Tribe finishes one of each Spartan distance - Sprint, Super and Beast (or Ultra), anywhere in the world. One of each distance must be completed within the Trifecta qualification year, which runs between our Spartan Trifecta World Championship event each year, taking place the first weekend of November.2019 Trifecta Year: All events within calendar year 20192020 Trifecta Year: Begins Monday, November 4th 2019 and concludes Sunday, November 8, 2020.

For the 2019/2020 Trifecta Season ONLY, there will be a limited transition period, as we switch away from calendar year qualification and to the Trifecta season year.An event completed between Nov. 4, 2019 and Dec. 31, 2019 falls within this crossover period and WILL count toward BOTH the 2019 and 2020 trifecta years, in order not to shorten one year or the other. While the race in November will count for 2019 and 2020 you will not get but one medal, one wedge for a single race event, there is not additional hardware provided for a single race finish. You can earn multiple Trifectas in a single year, however only one lap per day, per event will count toward this accomplishment. All athletes trifecta status resets to 0 at the end of each Trifecta Year.(If you run in both the Elite and Open series, still only ONE run through the course, per day, per event will count towards a trifecta.)

The Hurricane Heat does not count towardss a Trifecta.

Trail events do not count toward a Trifecta.

Spartan City eventsdo not count as a Sprint towards the Trifecta.

Stadion events do count as a "Sprint" towards the Trifecta.

The entire Ultra course needs to be completed for it to count. Only completing half does not result in a "Beast" towards your Trifecta.

You do not need the trifecta pass to earn the Spartan Trifecta. (But it can be a great deal!)

You can run the races in any order, the Sprint does not need to be the first event.

There is nothing special that you will need to do to "claim" a trifecta medal, as you will earn the three pieces of it, as you complete your races during the season. Once you have your third piece, the medals will fit together to complete one big Trifecta medal*. If you are earning your 2x, 3x, etc. Trifecta medal, they are available on site at the event**. Please complete your race, then see our results tent and/or our dedicated Trifecta Tent to be presented with your multi-Trifecta medal.

Trifecta merchandise (shirts, medal holders, etc.) will be available for sale at the merchandise tent at all events, but no additional merchandise, other than medal pieces, will be provided to Trifecta finishers.

Please note: Starting in 2015 all races in the world will award the Trifecta medal pieces. There are no single trifecta medals for any country.*Trifecta wedge pieces (awarded with a finisher medal at every event) will remain tied to the calendar year in which they were earned. 2019 and 2020 wedges work interchangeably to form a 1x Trifecta medal and fit in the standard delta and trifecta plate.**Racers who may earn a Multi-Trifecta Medal (2x, 3x, etc.) for the 2020 season, during the limited crossover period in 2019 will NOT be able to pick up their 2020 Trifecta Season Multi Trifecta medal on site at the event. 2020 multi-trifecta medals will be available in early 2020 and will be shipped to eligible racers when they are available. Eligible racers should submit a request to customer service ( [email protected] ) with their complete mailing address and qualifying races for verification.

  • The amount of time your racer is on course depends on their fitness level, ability to complete the obstacles, and the environmental conditions on race day.

What obstacles can my racer expect?

  • Your racer will be running, climbing, crawling, etc. and should dress in comfortable clothes for exercise that match the weather of your event. Think physical education class. Quick dry material is best for our outdoor events because your young Spartan will get muddy! Athletic shoes that you are OK getting muddy and athletic wear that wicks moisture (polyester) are best. Cotton will keep your racer wet and is highly discouraged for colder events. Your racer will not be offered mud or water obstacles at our stadium events. Our festival grounds tend to be muddy due to the amount of muddy racers walking around. Please dress in footwear you do not mind getting muddy yourself :)

  • You've registered for an event, but you've decided you'd actually like to run at a different time of the day. No problem.

(Reminder: If you're running with a team, you may be moved within your time block, to be placed at the common team start time. See details here: Team Registration and Start Times )

Head over to ChronoTrack (the registration system) and choose "Athlete Login" in the upper right corner: add yourself back onto the team

Log in or Create an account using the SAME email address you used for registration.

In your profile, you'll see the "Upcoming" events tab. Locate the race in which you'd like to change your start time:

On the right side, choose the blue button that says "Change Race":

When you click "Change Race," you'll get two options:Change to Another Race: this allows you to move your start time to another heat block on the same day.Defer my registration for another event: this allows you to withdraw from the current event and receive credit to use towards an event on a different day than you are currently registered.

To adjust your start time, choose "Change to Another Race"

Next, you'll be shown your current start time choice and asked to choose the NEW start time choice you'd prefer. *If a time block is Sold Out, you will NOT be able to move into it. No Exceptions. Time Block capacities are maintained for the safety of our racers.*

After you choose your new start time, you'll get a screen confirming the charges (if any). You will be responsible for paying in difference in price between the price you paid for your current start time and the current cost ofthe new start time. There will also be a small Service Fee added to your order for online processing. You will not be refunded if you choose to move from a higher priced time block to a lower priced time block.

*Team members*: Changing your start time will automatically remove you from your current team. You must . Please note that we cannot guarantee you will be able to join your team in the new heat if this change is made within 21 days prior to the race. It will be dependent on wave capacity and sizes.

Please Note: Once you input your credit card and agree to the charges presented to you, NO REFUNDS will be provided. If you have questions regarding the charges presented to you, please don't hesitate to contact us PRIOR to completing your transaction.

If you are adjusting your start time less then 14 days prior to the event, your NEW start time may not show online until all changes are processed the Friday prior to the event.

  • You just tackled a Spartan Race, here is how you can find your photos!

Photos will be posted by the Friday after the event.

You can find your photos here: https://www.spartan.com/en/race/results-photos/past-races

On the right, choose your race. When the photos are available, you will see the galleries posted.

    [email protected]

Next, open the gallery for your race. The gallery will look like this.

You will have two ways you can search for your photos. First, simply enter your race bib# in the top right box. This is the number that was on your headband.

Another way you can search for photos is by using the time splits. To do that, just click "Filter By Time" and you can enter a time of day. Then you would click "All Obstacles" to choose the obstacle that corresponds with the time you were there. To find those times, you can get your timing splits from ChronoTrack.

    ChronoTrack Log In

Once in your account, go under the "Past" events tab. Then click "View Results". This will pull up the race results. Just enter your name or bib# to get your timing splits.

Just enter the times from the "Time of Day" into the search box, choose the corresponding obstacles, and that will pull up the photos from the time you were there.

Photos taken in the Festival area may be found under the Race Highlights section. Some photos do also get posted separately to the Spartan Facebook page.

I searched for my photos but can't find any, now what?

If you tried finding your photos through a bib search and a time search, and but still need assistance, please contact us by sending an email to.

Please provide a detailed physical description of yourself and what you wore on race day, such as: hair color, hair style (pony tail, bald, buzz cut, beard, mustache, long, short), ethnicity, any distinguishing marks like tattoos or numbers written on arms/legs, distinguishing clothes (almost everyone wears black and mud will often obscure designs on clothes), etc. Basically, we need information that would help someone recognize you without ever having seen you. If you happen to have a selfie or snapshot taken of you at the race, that will greatly help in identifying you!

If you experience any technical issue, please let us know what device (iPhone, iPad, Android, etc.) and browser you are using to access the photo timeline. Older versions of Internet Explorer are not compatible with the timeline, so if you use Internet Explorer and experience any issues, please try Chrome or Firefox to see if that works for you.

We do not have any photos available for races prior to June 2016.

  • I can't find my photos or some are missing?

I didn't wear my headband because I thought my timing chip would keep track.

I don't want photos of me posted online. How can I have them removed?

Can I remove the logo from my photo?

For the kids race: Why can't I find my child's photo?

How can I get high resolution copies of my photos to print?

My timing chip fell off on course and I can't find any of my photos.

    1) I didn't wear my headband because I thought my timing chip would keep track of my splits and photos.

Your timing chip will record your time when you step over a timing mat but wearing your headband is highly recommended while participating.

    2) I don't want photos of me posted online. How can I have them removed?

Before you participated in a Spartan event, you signed a waiver saying we can photograph you. However if you request to have your photos removed, you will need to email [email protected] and our Customer Service team will work to remove the images. The usual reasons a photo will be removed is if there is a wardrobe malfunction or if it is too revealing. Not liking how you look is not a reason to remove a photo.

    3) Can I remove the logo from my photo?

No. We own the rights to the photos we take and we brand them with our logo. Arent you proud to be a Spartan? With so many other OCR events out there, we brand all of our images so everyone knows you were at a Spartan Race.

    4) For the kids race: Why can't I find my child's photo? There were photographers everywhere.

Always make sure the photographer is wearing either a staff shirt or is wearing a media pass. If they were actually a staff photographer, their photos will be on Spartan.com.

    5) How can I get high resolution copies of my photos to print?

The photos you download directly from spartan.com are, in fact, high-res. Most downloaded images are about 19in x 13in, meaning you can blow it up to fit in an 8x10 photo frame with ease. If you are downloading images from Facebook, they will not be large enough to print, as Facebook compresses the image size.

    6) My timing chip fell off on course and I can't find any of my photos.

If your timing chip fell off on course and if you have NOT talked to some one from the results tent, you need to email [email protected] immediately to earn credit for your race. If your timing chip did fall off, you will need to manually search for your photos by time of day. Your timing chip is synced to the bib # you ran with, which ultimately syncs up to the photos uploaded to our database. This process enables you to search your photos using your bib #.

Please note, we do not have any photos available for races prior to June 2016.

  • Since its founding in 2010, Spartan has been a partner insupportinga wide range ofcharitablecauses, from multiple local military charities to organizations that fight childhoodobesity and assist disabled athletes. These organizations include Homes for Our Troops, Green Beret Foundation, and Rod Dixons Kids Marathon Foundation, among many others.

For example in February 2014, Spartan hosted the Tampa Special Ops Spartan Sprint which generated a combined $67,486 in cash and in-kind support for local military groups. This included a $5,000 donation to the Green Beret Foundation and a $2,486 donation to USSOCOM Care Coalition. In addition, Spartan provided a platform for racers to donate directly to the Green Beret Foundation this resulted in raising an additional $2,500.

Complimentary race entries valued at $45,000 were distributed within the Tampa community, and we sponsored MacDill Air Force Base special events in the amount of $5,000.

Additionally, five charities received in-kind donations of booth space at the Tampa Raceto promote their causes for a total value of $12,500, including Team RedWhiteBlue, Operation Enduring Warrior, Green Beret Foundation, Black Dagger Military Hunt Club, and Special Ops Survivors.

Our support in Tampa is a recent example of our belief that the most effective strategy is to offer charities the opportunity to raise funds by leveraging the power of the Spartan brand and its reach. The tremendous response from over 35 charities, who are now part of the Spartan Charity Partner Program nationally, demonstrates the appeal within the charity community to use the Spartan community to bring awareness to their causes.

Specifically, funds are raised for charitable organizations through a variety of techniques as the non-profits leverage the awareness they receive at races and through social media. In this way, the non-profits benefit from the support of new and repeat donors.

In 2014, Spartan named Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) as the official Charity Partner of the 2014 U.S. Reebok Spartan Race. CAF is the world leader in helping individuals with physical challenges get involved and stay involved in sports.

"Operation Enduring Warrior has a good relationship with Spartan that has definitely been beneficial for our organization. While we haven't received monetary donations, they have given us complimentary race entries for our entire team in quite a few Spartan races as well as allowing for us to set up our booth at those same races. These races have gained OEW exposure and most importantly have given recognition to our wounded veterans. This in turn has allowed us to help more wounded veterans, which is the lasting legacy we want to leave."-OEW President, Scott Blough

  • The Spartan Ultrais a unique race with Ultra-specific obstacles and challenges; the Ultra will no longer be an extension of the Beast event (like the pre-2018 Ultra Beast).

The Ultra will be geared for true endurance-focused Spartans, with a minimum distance of 30 mi/ 50km.Upon completion of this 30 mile test of will, successful finishers will receive a unique Ultra belt buckle, as well as special Ultra-branded finisher shirt and wedge medal.

The Spartan Ultra will count towards the Spartan Race Trifecta as a Beast. Using an Ultra as the Beast, you would need 1 Sprint/Stadion and 1 Super to complete a Trifecta.Completion of one Ultra will count as one piece of the Trifecta. You must complete the entire course in order for it to count, completing half will not count as a Beast. More information on the Spartan Trifecta can be found here.

For the first time, all Ultra events globally will be qualifiers for Elite and Age Group categories into the Ultra World Championship. Ultra racers will need to meet demanding course cut-off times and there is no roll-down or maximum number of qualifiers.

US Spartan Season Pass Holders qualify for 50% off their Ultra registration with the use of their pass.

Specific race information such as course cutoffs will be posted the week of the race in the Race Day Program.

Please note: Anyone racing in a Spartan Ultra event must be at least 18 years old on race day.

The details/restrictions of Spartan Race Transfers

How much is it going to cost?

How do I Transfer or Defer my race?

    Trifecta Pass Deferrals

Sometimes, things happen, and you're just not able to make an event that you had planned on. Not to worry, Spartan Race does allow you to deferyour unused registration.

    THE DETAILS:

30 DAYS TO INITIATE DEFERRAL: You have until 30 days AFTER your event to defer your UNUSED registration to a new event. You do not have to complete the process and choose your new event at this time, but you must initiate the deferment within 30 days.

90 DAYS TO USE DEFERRAL CREDIT TOWARDS NEW RACE: You will have 90 days after the event you are transferring out of to sign up for your new event. The new event does not have to take place within those 90 days, you just need to complete the registration within 90 days (i.e., the new event can take place a year from now, but you must register for it within the 90 day window). The credit expires after 90 days and no further credit will be offered.

    More Details:

Our Transfer/Deferment Policy currently only applies to events in the continental US & Hawaii. We are not able to transfer a registration from a US event to another country or region.

The option to defer will be taken offline Wednesday prior to the event as all of the bibs for the race weekend need to be prepared. It will come back online by Wednesday after the event once we are able to verify the bibs that have not been used.

If the event you want to transfer to is not open for registration yet, you must still initiate your deferment within 30 days after your race. A deferment code / credit will remain in your Chronotrack account, to be used for eligible events up to 90 days after the event you are transferring out of.

You cannot use the code for a sold out event. It is the racers responsibility to ensure the event is not sold out before completing the deferment.

If you are transferring additional purchases such as the iTab or Festival Pass, please email us after you have completed and paid the deferment fee.

Kids Race & Festival Pass Registrations (registered for separately, not as an "add on" to a racer registration) will be available for deferment to a future race - at NO CHARGE - up until 48 hours prior to the race. After 48 hours, you will no longer be able to defer Kids Race or Festival Pass registrations.

Hurricane Heat deferments will close on MONDAY prior to the event.

If you sign up with aGroupon, you are not eligible to defer your registration. Per the terms and conditions of the voucher, your purchase is for the specific race only.

    THE PRICING:

At the time you defer your race, you are charged the flat deferment fee of $35 (Unless you are transferring a Festival Pass or Kids registration, see above).

The $14 Insurance Fee and $5/$10 Bag Check/Parking fees are charged per person, per day, per venue and is non-transferable and non-refundable. If you want to defer your entry, you will need to pay the $14 Insurance Fee again for the new event - NO EXCEPTIONS.

When you defer your registration to a future event, you will be given a credit for the amount paid, minus any discounts (does not include insurance or service fees). For example, your race price was $100 and you had a discount for $25 off. You would receive a credit of $75 to use for your next race.

When you register for the new event with your deferment credit, you will be responsible for any price difference between the credit and the current price of the event you are signing up for. You will need to purchase Participant Insurance and any additional fees for the new event. You will also not be able to use any discount codes, offers, or other credits when signing up for the new event.

If you are deferring your entry to another person to use, you will still pay the flat deferment fee of $35. Whoever completes the new event registration with the deferment credit will be responsible for paying the price difference and Participant Insurance.

The deferment credit cannot be used to pay the Participant Insurance, Bag Check, Parking or the processing fee. You will need to pay those fees again when you sign up for the new event.

The deferment credit is valid for a single use on a registration. Anydeferment credit remaining after you sign up for the new event will be forfeited. It cannot be used for future events, the Participant Insurance, processing fees, or merchandise.

Do to the unique nature of the Agoge,we are unable tooffer a refund or future race credit under any circumstance.

    THE PROCESS:

    To defer the registration:

Head over to ChronoTrack (our registration system) and choose "Athlete Login" in the upper right corner: [email protected]

Log in or create an account using the SAME email address you used for your original registration.

In your profile, you'll see "Upcoming" and "Past" events tabs. Locate the race you'd like to defer.

Once you locate the race you'd like to defer, choose "Change Race" on the right hand side:

When you click Change Race, you'll have two options:Change to Another Race: this will allow you to move your Start Times WITHIN the same race date.Defer my registration for another event: this will allow you to withdraw from this event and receive credit to use at a future Spartan Event.

You will then be asked to confirm the Race Deferral fee ($35) and to finalize that transaction.

After payment, you will receive a confirmation of your deferral, with a coupon code that can be used to move to the next race of your choice. This coupon code is shown to you onscreen, emailed to you in a confirmation email, and saved for reference and use in the "Coupons" tab of your Chronotrack profile:

When you're ready to register for your NEW race, simply go through the registration process as usual for the new event. Input the Deferral Code you received into the Coupon Code box during registration and you will be credited the appropriate amount. Any remaining fees (price difference, Participant insurance, processing charge) will be your responsibility at that time.

It is up to you to ensure the race you want to transfer to is not sold out and also be aware that events can sell out at any time. It is possible for a heat or event to sell out during the transfer process.

To Defer my registration to a DIFFERENT PERSON:

Follow the steps listed above. The code that you receive from your deferral, you can give the code to the new racer.

The new racer will go through the registration process as usual, until prompted to enter a "coupon code." He/she will input that code, and it will credit the appropriate amount. Any remaining fees (price difference, Participant insurance, processing charge) will be the new racer'sresponsibility at that time.

The new racer is not guaranteed to get the same spot as you. It is up to you to ensure the heat is not sold out prior to completing the deferment. If it is we cannot guarantee the new racer will be able to sign up for the heat you were originally in.

    TRIFECTA PASS DEFERRALS:

If you are deferring an event purchased with a Trifecta Pass, please follow the following steps.NOTE: You will only be able to defer to the same race type. For example, if you're deferring from a Beast, you will only be able to activate your deferral for a Beast. Trifecta pass usage is only valid for one Sprint, one Super, and one Beast, so we are unable to accommodate requests for deferrals to alternate distances. The transfers can only be made to races in the same calendar year (January through December).

Initiate the deferment process, as directed above. Pay $35 deferral fee and receive your deferral code.

Send your deferral code to Spartan Customer Support via Live Chat (look for the red help button on any Spartan.com page), or email: [email protected] and let us know what race you'd like to change to.

Spartan Customer Support will activate your deferral code accordingly and you will be able to register for your new race at 100% off your registration fees.

Note: This process applies to all deferrals completed on or after January 10th, 2018.

RACES REGISTERED FOR WITH A VOLUNTEER CREDIT:

Thank you for volunteering with us! If you registered for your race with a volunteer credit, please reach out to our volunteer coordinators. They will be able to assist you with your transfer there.

  • At Spartan, we want to reward you for ripping your friends off the couch, so we started the Refer a Friend program. When you recruit your friends to run in the race with you, we will reward you.

Please read this FAQ in its entiretybefore sending the referrallink to your friends.

In order to qualify for the reward, your THREE friends MUST register for the event via the referral URL.

Refer THREE friends for a free race**

You must click on the link and complete the form to send them a personal referral link.

If your friends do not useyourlink to register, we won't know that they were referred by you, and we will be unable to issue you a reward.

Please do not copy and paste the link. Each friend who registers will need to be emailed their own unique link to be verified as a referral.

Shortly after all referrals are verified, we'll send you a message that includes your voucher that is good for either one free race** or a merchandise credit.

    Program Guidelines:

-In order to qualify for the reward, all THREE friends MUST register for the event via the referral URL.

    - Self referrals do not count. This means, if you sign them up or they sign up from the same IP address as you it will not count. If your friends use the same device or the same link to register they will be flagged as self referral. If you pay for your friends registrations they will be flagged as a self referral.

    - Anyone using a 100% discount code will not count. This includes but is not limited to Groupon, volunteer entries, pass codes, or deferrals codes (even if they have to pay a difference for the new event).

    - Having athletes join your team does not count as a referral. Each athlete must correctly use the personal referral link.

    - Registrations cannot be retroactively applied towards the program.

    - This program excludes Kid's Race Registrations.

** Free race is good for any Sprint, Stadion, Super, or Beast in the US in the 'open' (morning or afternoon) heats. The free race is not valid for 'competitive' (elite or age group) heats. Code will expire two weeks after issuance.

Anything else I need to know?

There are a few other important details...

Purchase of the Trifecta Pass does not automatically register you for any particular event, or guarantee entry to any event, or heat. Please read above for instructions on how to use your pass to register for an event.

Trifecta Pass is non-transferable and non-refundable.

  • The only way to ensure that you will start at the exact same time as your friends is to create a Team. You can create a team during the registration process for your friends to join (or join your friend's team).

Any racers that are registered as part of the same team on the SAME DAY in the SAME TIME BLOCK, will be moved to a common team start time when start times and bib numbers are assigned (Start times will be posted 10 days prior to the event). Racers that are registered for Sunday will not be moved to Saturday with a team, or vice versa.

For example, if a team has members registered for BOTH Morning and Afternoon Time Blocks, all Morning Time Block team members will be moved together within the Morning Time Block, and all Afternoon Time Block team members will be grouped together within the Afternoon Time Block.

PLEASE NOTE: This policy does NOT apply to teams registered for the Age Group Heat. Participants that register for the Age Group category will be assigned a start time based on their AGE GROUP and gender ONLY- regardless of whether that participant is part of a team. Team members are NOT placed together in the Age Group category, unless they are in the same age group range (and gender depending on heat capacity).

Team start times are NOT determined by the captain's preferred time.Spartan Race does reserve the right to adjust your start time (within the same time block - Morningor Afternoon), despite your "preferred" start times, based on team size and space availability.

Please Note: Racers who do not begin the race at their assigned Age Group start time risk disqualification.

Racers that are registered for Elite, Age Group, or Morningstart times will NOT be moved to the Afternoonteam time.We assume that racers who have paid extra for these heat times would like to remain in them. Elite, Age Group, and Morning racers will still count as part of your team, but will not be moved out of their registered time blocks. If you are registered for the Elite, Age Group, or MorningTime Block and request to be moved to an Afternoon start time, no refund will be provided for the price difference. Whether or not this request is able to be accommodated is dependent on your desired heat's availability.

Racers that are registered for Afternoonheats will not be moved into teams signed up for Elite, Age Group, or Morningstart times, unless they pay the difference in price. This is also dependent on the desired heat's availability.

For a complete explanation of Elite, Age Group, Morning, and AfternoonTime Blocks for our events, please see the following article: Elite, Age Group, Morning, and AfternoonTime Blocks.

Any racer who has already registered but wishes to join a team or change teams must do so at least 21 days prior to the race, to allow time for processing. After your registration is complete, you cannot make team changes within 21 days of race day.

  • Volunteer Free Future Races /Chronotrack Codes

If you choose to not use your free race at the event you volunteer, you will be sent a Chronotrack Codeto use to sign up for a future US Sprint, Super, or Beast Spartan Race. Please note you must complete your volunteer shift as listed in order to receive the free race. For example, if your shift is listed as 6am-1pm, we are expecting you to volunteer from 6am-1pm.

You will receive your code via email within 1 week from the last race dayof the event you volunteered. If 2 weeks have passed without receipt, please check your Chronotrack account under "Coupons"before emailing [email protected].

    [email protected]

If you are emailing, please include your full name, email, the race you volunteered, and the location you would like to race for free.

You must "check out" with the Volunteer Coordinatorat the volunteer tent (race days) or Production Assistant (course build shifts) after your volunteer shift to ensure you will receive your free race code.Check-out is required to receive a free future race code.

2018 codes earned from completing a Build or volunteer shift on race day are good for any Open (morning or afternoon) heat time to a Future US Sprint, Super, or Beast(itcannot be used for international races, the Ultra, the Agoge, or other races other thanthe standard Sprint, Super, or Beast.) If you would like to use your code for a heat other than the Open heat (such as Age groups or Competitive, you can pay an upgrade fee (difference between the cost of the afternoon heat and the cost of the heat you are upgrading to.) Please note, acoupon code WILL NOT gain you entry into a sold out heat or race.

Yes, you can add on the HH on to your registration. You will get 100% off your regular race from the volunteer credit but will still be responsible for the $14 insurance fee and Hurricane Heat add on.

If you select the Hurricane Heat registration choice at the beginning of the registration process, and only wanted to sign up for that, you can use you volunteer code to get 100% off the Hurricane Heat.

Codes are not valid for sold out heat times.

If you are missing your code, you must contact us at [email protected] at least 2 weeks before your desired race.

You can gift the free race to a friend by simply giving them your code (it can only be used once.)

The free race code is good for one year. You must register for an event within that year; your race does not have to occur within that year. If your code expires it cannot be replaced.

If you sign up for a free race and then cannot make it, we can transfer your free race to a different event only one time (must be before the race occurs.) If you try to transfer more than once, you will forfeit your entry.

    How much are spectators?

What do I get, as a spectator?

Can I get on the course to watch?

Do I need a spectator pass, if I have a child registered as a Jr. Spartan?

What can I bring in to the race with me?

How do I purchase a Spectator Pass Online?

    Spartan loves Spectators

Most USA venues will require one to purchase a Festival Pass to gain entry as a spectator, so check on the race's specific event page for pricing. Typically, the fee is $20 if purchased online prior to the event (please note online registration closes at 5pm eastern time on Friday prior to the race), and $25 when purchased on race day.Kids 13 and under are free. There is no spectator age limit.

With the Festival Pass, you get a coupon at registration (redeemable at the merchandise tent). Additionally you will have viewing access of some obstacles, the start and finish line, the vendor tents, and hot food for sale on the grounds. Enjoy music while watching your friends and loved ones slip and slide through the Spartan course, from the Spartan festival grounds. Raffles, entertainment, spectator challenges, free muddy hugs from Spartan athletes, and all the other festival perks makes spectating all worth while. The next ticket you will want to buy will be a race entry.

Yes, but can I get on the course to watch my racer?

As for roaming the course or watching each obstacle, each course will have different restrictions. On some ski mountains, you can take a ski lift to the top where there will be obstacles to watch. At ALL events, the festival area is situated within sight of at least 6 obstacles where you can catch your family and friends.

My Junior Spartan(s) are in the Kids Race, do I need to purchase a Festival Pass?

Each Kids Race registration includes two free Festival Passes per FAMILY. If you have one child registered, you'll get two free passes. If you have two children registered, you'll still only receive two free passes. There is no need to register these spectators online ahead of time - just show up with your mini-spartans and check in with them at the Kids Race registration line.

What can I bring into the race with me?

You'll want to check the Athlete Guide and/or Event Page for your specific event for any special guidelines on what you may/may not bring into an event. However, as a general rule, outside food and drink, coolers, and tents are not allowed. You are welcome to bring folding chairs, backpacks, etc.

How do I purchase a Festival Pass Online?

Follow these steps to purchase a Festival Pass online:

Go to the specific race's event page and click the red 'Register' buttonin the middle of the screen.

Log into your ChronoTrack account or continue as a guest.

On the next page, select Festival Pass. On the following page, complete the form with your appropriate demographic information.

Towards the bottom of the page, you will see an Additional Purchases section; if you wish to purchase MORE THAN ONE Festival Pass, then check off Festival Pass and under Quantity, select the additional number of passes you want IN ADDITION to yours. You are already registering 1 pass, and this is where you would be purchasing additional passes.

On the next page, review your cart to confirm you have the appropriate number of passes and the dollar amount reflected is correct. Proceed to checkout and payment.

You may print your receipt and bring it with you to the Spectator Tent on race day to pick up your passes. No physical passes will be emailed or distributed to you.

Please note: online Festival Pass registration closes at 5pm eastern time on the Friday prior to the race. After this time passes are only available in person on race day for $25.

  • Generally speaking, we race rain or shine, heat or snow.

In order for us to cancel or postpone a race, we must be experiencing a severe act of God such as a hurricane, forest fire, flood, blizzard, etc.

So, if you get up and it is pouring rain, we are racing.

If it is snowing, we are racing.

If it is hot, we are racing.

If it is cold, we are racing.

Please plan to dress accordingly and use your judgement regarding your personal limitations.

IF for some reason we must cancel an event due to uncontrollable weather conditions emails will be sent to all registered racers and announcements will be made on the Spartan website and through social networking channels.

  • NO. Spartans don't skip obstacles, we overcome them.

We strongly discourage skipping obstacles without attempting them, as it is unfair to others that do attempt them. Plus, aren't the obstacles the point of doing an obstacle course race?

However, if you attempt an obstacle that you simply cannot overcome there is a mandatory set of burpees that you must complete before moving on. This is the case with ALL obstacles. That can add up to a lot of burpees - so try hard to complete those obstacles.

A proper burpee, as defined by Spartan Founder Joe Desena, can be seen here:

  • Okay... be honest, did you just mistype Stadium?

NO! Stadion was a prestigious ancient running event and the name for the arena where it took place. We only felt it was right to honor this during our modern day version of the event. Thus, the Spartan Stadion event was born.

How are these events the same/different than the outdoor events?

There are just a few differences:

The burpee penalty for a failed obstacle is 15 burpees instead of 30

These events are considered a time trial event. This means the winner is determined by chip time not gun time. Simply put: as long as you start in the right heat and you run the fastest - you win, even if you are not the first to cross the finish line.

There will be no fire, mud, or water obstacles.

You can expect to find some obstacles - unique to our Stadion events - on the course.

The rest of the key Spartan event components are the same:

You still get a finisher medal and shirt, headband, post-race beer, sponsor goodies, etc.

You will still get plenty of photos to share on social media.

Will these events still count as a sprint for a Trifecta.

Yes! You will get a sprint wedge piece, along with the unique Stadion event medal.

What kind of shoes should I wear?

As you will not be encountering mud or water or crazy mountains, normal running shoes work great here. If you need help finding a good pair you can find some right in our online store.

I have never done anything like this before, how do I know I am ready?

Dont worry, 50% of our Stadion racers are first time racers just like you. This is a perfect event for you to get that first medal (and hopefully not your last). We also have plenty of resources to help you get ready once you sign up!
