Every day, we know the decisions we make have an impact on our environment. Reducing our footprint by using resources responsibly helps us increase efficiency, save money, and attract and retain clients and employees.
That’s why we’re committed to big goals. More than three years ago we set a series of goals to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and water usage by 20 percent per person and to divert 90 percent of waste sent to landfills by 2020, compared to a 2012 baseline. We were proud to achieve these goals three years ahead of schedule, reducing our carbon impact by 33 percent, water usage by 21 percent and diversion from landfill by 90 percent.
But we know there's more work to do. We‘re taking a long-term view and developing strategies to achieve science-based targets for greenhouse gas emissions. These are targets consistent with limiting global warming to two degrees Celsius, the threshold at which many of the most harmful impacts of climate change can be averted. Our goal is a 30 percent global reduction in GHG emissions by 2025 (measured per square meter).
Rounding out our 2025 goals, we’re also working to reduce our water usage by 10 percent and increasing our recycling rate to 80 percent. Big goals are key to reducing our footprint and we are committed to reaching them.
