You should not tell someone they will have a set shift then change it without giving them a choice.

It's hard work for minimum wage. The company is based out of California and they have a much higher minimum wage than the state I work remotely from. I hear conflicting things from managers and higher ups.

There's just not enough motivation. Increasing pay and coherency in employee duties would help.
