The engineers are generally good, and the projects are interesting. Unfortunately that's about it for the good news. The company is rife with "lifers" who don't care about their work; they will do the minimum amount necessary to keep their job. We could fire 30% of our workforce tomorrow and be fine
What is the best part about your compensation package?
The retirement matching program is the best part of my compensation package.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
My peer engineers are intelligent, driven, and socially engaging. We have weathered some challenging times on our program but it has brought us closer together.
What are some of the best things about your team?
The core engineering team is very capable, but when we require outside assistance (ISC, Quality, etc) the ball is dropped and we widely miss our program goals. This needs to be identified and rectified by management, but the problems persist unchecked.
What does the leadership team need to get better at?
The management consistently disregards the input from the engineers. This has caused our program to balloon well over-time and over-budget. It is very frustrating to watch a program fail, and see no accountability at the top. We have just as little of a voice now as we did then.
What makes you most happy at work?
I am most happy at work when I feel like what I am doing matters. I feel this is the case when I am working on new technologies and have the support I need from management. I do not feel happy at work when management ignores our needs, and the program starts to fall apart.
