How employees describe working at UC Irvine

Little opportunities for upward growth. Leadership wants "yes" people rather than people actually trying to do the right thing. Insurance isn't as good as other companies.

no avenues for upward mobility. cost of living is to omuch, and unless you're a 6 to 7 figure executive, you will not be able to sustain living in the Irvine area. THe community is toxic, and unfriendly, and the chancellor touts free speech, but his own employ experiences workplace persecution.

Best place to work if you are looking for work life balance and highly accomplished and easy to work with teams.

I used to love it and was so proud to work here. I've been at UCI for 15 years. However, since moving from an administrative to an academic unit, I find many faculty extremely arrogant and dismissive. It's a major turn-off, and I'm now aggressively looking for other work.
