Executive Bio

Mr. David T. Shapiro has been an Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Vail Resorts Inc. since July 13, 2015. Mr. Shapiro is responsible for legal, governance and compliance efforts as well as its environmental programs, charitable giving and public affairs. Mr. Shapiro served as Chief Special Counsel at DaVita HealthCare Partners Inc., since March 2013. He served as Chief Compliance Officer and Senior Vice President of DaVita HealthCare Partners Inc. from October 2008 to 2013. He joined DaVita in March 2008 as the Deputy Chief Compliance Officer. He has seven-year career in various executive positions at DaVita Healthcare Partners Inc., based in Denver. Since 2013, he has been the general counsel for DaVita's kidney care business, overseeing a 100-person team with direct responsibility for all of the division's legal work. Prior to joining DaVita, he was Counsel at the Pepper Hamilton law firm from March 2007 to February 2008, during which time he represented health care clients in government investigations and compliance issues. From October 2003 to March 2007, he served as a Trial Attorney with the Civil Frauds Section of the United States Department of Justice. From June 1999 to October 2003, Mr. Shapiro was an Attorney with the law firm Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C. He serves on the boards of Children's Hospital of Colorado and the Denver Public Schools Foundation. Mr. Shapiro received his law degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law and his bachelor's degree in economics from Trinity College in Connecticut.
