Executive Bio

Dr. Stephen Patrick Hoover, also known as Steve, has been the Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President of Xerox Corporation since January 1, 2017. Dr. Hoover is responsible for research and product development and oversees the Xerox global research centres including the PARC, Xerox Research Centre Canada and Xerox Research Centre Europe, as well as Xerox's globally distributed product development and engineering capabilities. He served as the Chief Executive Officer of Palo Alto Research Center Incorporated, a Xerox Company since January 2011 until January 2017. Dr. Hoover joined Xerox in 1994 and served as Vice President of Xerox's software and electronics development group, a job where he directed research and development investments. As Vice President of the Xerox Research Center of Webster (New York), he supported core and next-generation research and development. He led the global organization responsible for Webster's software and electronics development. In these roles, he was responsible for multi-million dollar R&D investments and product strategy encompassing several platforms and market offerings at Webster. He has led long-term technology investments in grid and cloud computing, nanotech, mobile, the Future of Work and advanced printing and mass customization technologies. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Rochester Museum and Science Center, including leading its K-12 STEM Education Task Force; and is a regional Board Member of FIRST Robotics, an organization which inspires young science, technology and engineering leaders through mentor-based programs. He serves as a Member of Customer Advisory Board of NineSigma, Inc. Dr. Hoover earned his Ph.D. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and B.S. from Cornell University.
