I am most happy when there is a clear concise vision, that has gone through a rigorous planning phase across all the effected departments so that everyone is aware of their roles, metrics of success, and milestones before work on the project ever begins.

The members of the team are very smart and eager. It is unfortunate that their incredible talents are spent constantly scrambling inefficiently under poor direction to, instead of leveraging their high intelligence toward making us more efficient, thus increasing the marginal impacts of our efforts.

I have 5-10 years experience and a degree in my highly technical field. I have family members getting paid more in entry level project manager positions before they even graduated college. If positions like mine are not going to be monetarily valued, their knowledge should be given more respect.

SPS is known for having tight pay scales and wage increases. It takes serious effort for a manager to get any pay increase greater than 3% approved. There are very few employees at this company, at any given point in time, that has had their wages keep up with inflation.

Be a far better at inter-team communication and planning. Far too many projects are done on a whim without any clear communication between teams, or any significant planning. Need to take time to assess, plan more than a few weeks out, and use this to inform how we think and act in the future.
