Over the past 15 years the experience here has degraded significantly as people left and no one was every hired or properly trained to replace them. I stay for the job security and the freedom that security affords me despite the stress.
It lets me pay my bills
Being left alone to focus on my projects
My paychecks are never late
Too much work to do and not enough people to do it
Focus on safety and quality. A concerted push to go more digital (paperless)
They give me the freedom to get done what needs to be done without micromanaging me.
I work 10-12 hours a day on average as a salaried employee to keep things running smoothly
with a few exceptions most employees here are just riding the clock and create more work for other employees
Focus less on vanity projects and more on things that lighten the work load of employees. There is a small group of hard workers that have to pick up the slack to keep things functional
We have too many people that just coast by doing the bare minimum. A lot of "not my job attitudes" where people are not willing to learn new things or cross train to cover when others are out.
