First Merchants is a great company to work for. I really appreciate that they offer tuition reimbursement. Although as a college grad, moving to a new city can be hectic and the pay isn't really that great to afford the basics. I have to work another part time job on top of my full time here.
Briefly describe your overall experience at your company
I wrote in my employee reviews abt areas I wanted more help in and bc our BCM was let go, our market leader did the reviews and gave no feedback abt what I had written. The pay is awful but this position is a good stepping stone. It's a stone I want to cross over now.

When I first started working here, my manager and SCRR were invested in my career growth. I was approached by our mortgage partner about a position opening that could pave the path into lending. I approached our new manager who's only been here for a month and she was not supportive.

discrimination in OH market and high employee turnover rate

Our manager always rewards us with food! We are a close family.

Everybody has a wealth of knowledge and is happy to help when I have questions.

Haven't had the chance to meet many of them, but they sound great from what I've heard.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
It's not really enough to afford an apartment and other bills for a college grad especially after taxes are taken out.
What's going wrong and how can it be improved?
No more micromanagement on branches that are successful. Focus on the big picture of employees and fix your code of conduct
What do your coworkers need to improve and how could you work together better?
Employees who have worked here for 2+ years still don't know how to use their resources or do wires. Always passing on work to others even though they can call rocs.
What's going wrong and how can it be improved?
Managers in the OH market are not held accountable to the same standards as other employees. They are also given special treatment employees that have worked here for several years have never been given.
What are some of the best things about your team?
We are adaptable regardless of the situations and are a close knitted group. We have a wealth of knowledge and experience to help and serve as each others' resources because we can't rely on our market leader without passive agressiveness
What does the leadership team need to get better at?
Confused abt who is considered a "leader" because after our BCM left, our market leader has been micromanaging the smallest things at our branch & doesn't seem concerned abt the overall health of it. Discussions will happen abt time off, half days, lunches, etc but he doesn't remember & gaslights us
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
Why do CRRs only make $3 more than interns?? Despite the commission, the hrly wage for a UNIVERSAL banker should be more for everything that we have to know & BS we deal with. Don't email only corporate friendly activities to do for spirit week when employees in branches can't even participate.
