AEVEX Aerospace Aircraft Mechanic/Technician (i.e. Sheet Metal, Electrician, etc.) Department Employee Reviews

What do you like best about the leadership team?

Leadership Reviews

Always available, very responsive and stays on top of everything that involves our scope of work.

the transparency with platform shipments

they are a decent team

Everyone works as a team

They are keeping me supplied with a strong workload.

What does the leadership team need to get better at?

Leadership Reviews

giving raises to the folks that earn them.

being more inclusive with workers that do not work at a desk. Start making us feel valued for the contributions we make to completing the goals of the company.

Clearly envision and set up a production area before attempting to produce an aircraft.

My immediate supervisor at our site is amazing and I have nothing negative to say about him. Best boss I've ever had. The program manager is really solid too. Higher level leadership seems a bit disconnected. There's been an ever-increasing amount of penny pinching and growing pains.

There doesnt seem to be enough recognition or acknowledgment of hard work. People want to be able to promote to better positions and that doesn't happen here. Some people want to get their A&P's and current certified A&P's don't sign off or acredit mechanics.

What is the best part about your compensation package?

Compensation Reviews

The life insurance helps a lot

The medical benefits seem very fair.

The overtime and matching 401K

medical and dental could be better. Reimbursement for school is a great help

not the pay but medical and dental is ok

Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?

Compensation Reviews

Comparing from previous positions with other companies and colleagues my compensation if nowhere near theirs.

Should be compensated more for the amount of work I am doing, and I wish more professional development was offered and company offered higher 401k match

I push hard to learn everything I can and be an asset to the team. Take time to train employees and sign off inspections. What would make me feel better would to be treated like everyone else when it comes to getting a raise. Management should want to retain their top employees.

Being depolyed I dont get overtime, PTO, Holiday pay

My skills are far greater than what im paid, 6+ years military on multi aircraft got me started at $24 and through much very hard work and complaining barely got me to $38. Not nearly close to what other companies pay which leads me to constant stress as i dont want to leave but find myself stressed

What are some of the best things about your team?

Team Reviews

Everybody knows their job, good and knowledgeable supervisors leading the way on the field, and managers that care about our well being.

everyone willing to help out other sections

MOST OF THEM ARE GOOD WORKERS BUT NOT ALL.

Theres lots of veterans so we all have something in common. most are very easy to work with.

Everyone works as a team

What do your coworkers need to improve and how could you work together better?

Team Reviews

A few people are too comfortable, some don't even take over time when the leaders ask for help, unless double time is offered. Team bonding experiences to know people on a more personal level would help making it easier for us to communicate and come to a middle point would make us a stronger team.

Most of them are ready to retire and just sort of winging it.

Some employees are very good workers and are very committed. Others talk a lot and are less committed but they are in the click.

huge waist of time between snack brakes, phone brakes, chat brakes. i slows down production.

They need to take more accountability of their work and stop depending on others to fix their mistakes after they leave. Once they truly tried to learn and took this job serious. THings would be a lot different

What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?

Environment Reviews

Knowing each other's roles and performing well at it.

Majority of everyone are veterans

Aevex has good rules to live by.

The ability to move up is clearly written and made known

we support each other when needed.

What needs to change to make the company culture better?

Environment Reviews

I dont work with anyone as a deployed personal, every one I work with is SNC

More team building events to improve morale

Our local work culture in our shop is amazing; however, the prime contractor (different company) is very disorganized and stressful to deal with. I wish our corporate level leadership could actually affect beneficial changes to our contract, but there's little to no movement on this.

Aevex is good but ima contractor for another company

Listen to your workers and help fix the issues at hand

What did you like most about the interview process?

Interviews Reviews

It probably varies depending on the specific job or program that you're on, but in my case, the initial interview was a very relaxed and informal chat with the program manager. He basically told me on the spot that he intended to hire me. A second interview was done with HR "as a formality".

What makes you most happy at work?

Outlook Reviews

Performing well and learning new things

the mission and vision of the company

drinking coffee and launching aircraft

The different changes that occur with the job

Doing a good job and the satisfaction of knowing my efforts matter.

What's going wrong and how can it be improved?

Outlook Reviews

Employee appreciation for workers on the shop floor and eliminate the divide between office workers and shop floor employees.

It feels like walking into a slaughter house every day. We have watched some of the best and brightest being pulled from actively working to be discarded like trash. Most of them immediately after making mountains move to complete a mission.

My overall pay is not allowing me to stay financially comfortable in life, im struggling.

Having something productive (Not busy work) to do, and not having changes being pushed through mid builds. Final release of signed off product before it get to production.

Compensation hasn't kept up with the local market rates or changes to our program. Hourly CONUS pay should be increased or somehow offset if you're unable to deploy OCONUS for over a year (this way you aren't effectively taking a pay cut due to lack of deployment uplift pay).
