Blizzard Entertainment Engineering Department Employee Reviews

Briefly describe your overall experience at your company

What do you like best about the leadership team?

Leadership Reviews

They're fine. They seem to have a good commitment to maintain the company values. They've made some pretty big mistakes, but they've also recognised and owned those mistakes.

Review from Engineering Dept

Very open-minded, clear communicators, great ambitions to provide the best entertainment experience to the world.

Review from Engineering Dept

There is a commitment to quality and our customers that infuses the company from the top down.

Review from Engineering Dept

Mike Morhaime is somebody who actually cares and doesn't always make the most lucrative choices if he knows it will impact our quality, ethics, support of our players, or the greater gaming industry as a whole.

Review from Engineering Dept

You are valued and listened to here.

Review from Engineering Dept

What does the leadership team need to get better at?

Leadership Reviews

Practicing what they preach and not pillaging their employees for every drop of sweat they can ring out of them for no pay.

Review from Engineering Dept

Paying higher salaries to workers.

Review from Engineering Dept

What is the best part about your compensation package?

Compensation Reviews

It's on the high-side of normal.

Review from Engineering Dept

The profit sharing is nice

Review from Engineering Dept

Could be higher, Irvine is expensive

Review from Engineering Dept

Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?

Compensation Reviews

Being paid 1/3rd of what the job I'm doing is worth by market value is a joke, which is why we're all leaving.

Review from Engineering Dept

if you value your life, stay away from Blizzard.

Review from Engineering Dept

Our pay is lower than it should be because everyone wants to work here. Our benefits are great, with the exception of our 401K, which isn't.

Review from Engineering Dept

Blizzard is greedy, do not apply.

Review from Engineering Dept

What are some of the best things about your team?

Team Reviews

Everyone has the same passion to produce good work, and refine their practice. Everyone has a say in the work process, and everyone's voice is heard and honored. It is truly a team effort, and everyone is a valuable asset.

Review from Engineering Dept

Being surrounded by people I enjoy being around.

Review from Engineering Dept

Everybody loves what they are working on

Review from Engineering Dept

Tight, motivated, and results driven.

Review from Engineering Dept

What do your coworkers need to improve and how could you work together better?

Team Reviews

My office suffers a passive-aggressive culture, where people don't address problems head-on.

Review from Engineering Dept

What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?

Environment Reviews

Everyone is at work because they want to be there. And genuinely wants to be there. It's not just luxury and gaming all day. Heck playing games only happens during lunches, and an occasional once a month fun day. Everyone there wants to be there to work on awesome products.

Review from Engineering Dept

It's fun and friendly, relaxed, and supportive.

Review from Engineering Dept

What needs to change to make the company culture better?

Environment Reviews

Improve the cultural undertones. My office has a passive-aggressive culture, which severely elevates a shared sense of impostor syndrome. I've never worked with such a room full of unbelievably competent people, who all simultaneously believe they are incompetent.

Review from Engineering Dept

Not destroy the spirit and soul of your employees by paying them fairly.

Review from Engineering Dept

What did you like most about the interview process?

Interviews Reviews

I met a bunch if really cool and friendly people, and we had some great conversations.

Review from Engineering Dept

They are mostly focused on how well you will fit into the culture and the goals of the company. They do test your knowledge to make sure you can do the job. But a lot of the interview involved getting to know each other as a person, and with multiple people. 3 interviews, with 12 people

Review from Engineering Dept

What would you improve about your company's interview process?

Interviews Reviews

Would be nice for it to take less than 3 months to hear back about how the job seeking process is going.

Review from Engineering Dept

What makes you most happy at work?

Outlook Reviews

Lunch, and going home for the day.

Review from Engineering Dept

Despite my lack of college education, people have recognized how much valuable knowledge and work I can bring. I am a fast and hard worker, and they respect that so much they choose not to abuse it. The company and my team really do care.

Review from Engineering Dept

Being part of something bigger than myself, having a tiny say of the quality that is delivered

Review from Engineering Dept

What's going wrong and how can it be improved?

Outlook Reviews

It's hard to get excited about work when your managers have no clue what you do or how to do it, or even how to fairly evaluate you compared to other people in your department.
