I've been with my center since before Destination Pet, and for the most part they've made improvements in every aspect. They support us in ways that a single owner never could. I believe I put in a lot of hard work at my center, and I'd like to step up to the GM position.
Briefly describe your overall experience at your company
There is a lot of change happening at our company right now as a whole. I would say on a grand scale all of those changes are mostly positive. In my center I do get frustrated with my direct supervisor, but my regional manager sees my potential for GMing my own center. This is very exciting!
What do you like best about the leadership team?
I like that it's comprised of mostly women! Our communication is thoughtful of one another.
What is the best part about your compensation package?
The health care plan is the best I've had in years. It's improving my quality of life.
What are some of the best things about your team?
We all know the clients & their dogs very well. Most clients feel we truly care about their pets.. which is great because we really do!
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
We're always trying to improve the culture. It's been a learning curve & uphill battle at times, but we're really trying to educate ourselves to make it better for our staff.
What do you like best about the leadership team?
I like the innovative ideas they've worked to implement into the company this year. I also believe a lot of the leadership team truly cares about animals, which is so important to me!
What makes you most happy at work?
I love seeing my staff members learning new things, and having success with different dogs. It also feels really good to have dogs you love get excited to be in your care for the day :)
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
I believe that I exceed expectations at my center. I've been with the company less than two years, and in that time I've been promoted twice, and made numerous fundamental changes. I have taken on more responsibility than my current salary accurately reflects.
What are some of the best things about your team?
We have a lot of people who are natural caretakers and really are in the right industry. Teaching people about dog behavior and how to better interact/communicate with dogs is one of my passions. Its nice when people have a natural ability to work with.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
I believe a lot of people truly want to help each other at our center. I've tried to unite the team with knowledge of one anothers positions so everyone is able to help when needed. I know we have employees who are close outside of work.
What makes you most happy at work?
Working in the pet industry has opened some new doors for me. I believe I've truly found one of my professional passions in working with dogs. Being able to help dogs & help their owners to better understand the dog in front of them makes me very happy. I love spending time with all the dogs!
