When I first started at Edward Jones, I fell in love with the firm. Internally, all our resources encourage us to pursue personal development and growth. Over time this reality dissipates in certain departments. The Service division is the most overlooked, overwork and underpaid area at the firm.

What makes you most happy at work?
When I feel valued and accomplished in my role. I'm even more excited when there are opportunities that I qualify for.
What are some of the best things about your team?
The individuals that work for the firm can be awesome overall. However, if truthfully providing feedback regarding improvement needed in our departments - your value decreases and you are overlooked.
What does the leadership team need to get better at?
There should be more realistic opportunities for minorities to explore leadership roles within the firm. This is clearly not the case and the pay scale differs greatly between whites and black associates at the firm.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
There is often cross training or cross development for specific roles within the firm; however there is no additional compensation for being forcibly moved into multiple roles. Regardless of your skillset or level of experience. It is more common to see your white colleague promoted.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
We (the associates) make it the best that we can working with each other. However, the nationwide branches that we support belittle and verbally abuse us often. This has been brought to the attention of the firm on multiple occasion. Many have exited the firm as a result of the disregard.
