The company culture is very open and welcoming, and I also love seeing the overlap between different business lines. The bureaucratic nature of the company is quite unappealing for a long term stay, however. It also seems more hospitable for engineers than for chemists, given the nature of the work.
What makes you most happy at work?
I absolutely love the lab time as well as analyzing the data from an experiment. I also like carrying out techniques and apply my current knowledge to carry through an experiment.
What are some of the best things about your team?
At my site I have never been denied an opportunity to meet with people. Rather, I have just been given different times. In addition, it seems that there is always help and advice no matter who I turn to.
What needs to change to make the company culture better?
The safety emphasis is so great that it paralyzes most lab activities. In addition, it feels that everything and anything needs to be approved by multiple people. The hypothetical situations brought up seem crazy for small scale experiments, and they further hinder us from making adequate progress.
