I enjoy the job I do. I appreciate the benefits offered by the company. Management operates solely on the budget and I have watched my department slowly fall apart. We can't get new tools, we can't get training, we can't get any help from management. We have forced overtime and very poor raises.
What does the leadership team need to get better at?
Understanding the area they are managing instead of ignoring major issues to make to the budget look good.
What makes you most happy at work?
I enjoy the job I do. I enjoy being self managed and trusted to complete my work without supervision watching over my shoulder.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
A competitive salary based on my local market and job responsibilities instead of a blanket salary that values 5+ years experience in a skilled labor position the same as entry level non-skilled labor positions.
What needs to change to make the company culture better?
Increase wages enough to bring in experienced workers, or at least raise it enough to keep employees around. The turn-over rate is horrendous in my department because of low salaries and it is being ignored by management.
What do your coworkers need to improve and how could you work together better?
My coworkers, and myself included, need more training in our respective fields. Training which we have been requesting for years but keep being told it won't fit the budget. Even though the training courses cost $5,000 and we have a $30m+ site surplus every year.
