I feel like I got in on the ground level at a good company, but in the last few years that future has looked a little more bleak. The opportunities for advancement are dwindling, and the company is becoming less focused on helping out the people that are spending years of their life here.
What makes you most happy at work?
The bonds I have made with coworkers. The chance to learn something new every day. The knowledge that with every step in the chemical process I am making a difference.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
A higher level of compensation. A better raise every year, when we know that the company is doing well enough to give raises out to CEO's and Executives, while we get 1.5% raises at best.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
The friendship. We can laugh and joke around, even though we are working and getting things done. The pace is never so fast that we can't find time to help someone out if they need it.
What are some of the best things about your team?
The bonds that are created. We often spend almost as much time with these people as we do with our families. Most of us think of these groups as out second family, and we get along as such.
What does the leadership team need to get better at?
Better raises. This 1.5% every year is crap and they know it. Better promotional value and money for people in higher levels of management and leadership positions. More opportunities for operators who are adequately qualified to step into a management role without the concern of being laughed at.
