Gray Television Compensation Employee Reviews

What is the best part about your compensation package?

Was better. Now part of cost cutting

Still getting paid. Year end bonus gone, 401k match down a percent in 2025, appears to be no profit share this year either

It works for my family

More paid time off, more station holidays, free healthcare option, sharing in company success by offering employees bonuses.

Salary, paid time off, staff bonuses

The new choice for free healthcare!

Review from Communications Dept

Stock purchase and free medical

Free insurance for employees and 401k

Review from Marketing Dept

Pay and 401k and stocks

The medical benefits are okay

Its there when we need it

I'm not at one of the smaller stations so my location is able to pay me more than in a smaller market. I understand the economics of why our pay is what it is. My starting pay was less than I wanted, but hard work here pays off and I am fairly paid. now. I like that I was able to earn where I am.

I THINK IT IS IN LINE WITH ALL MAJOR COMPANIES.

Review from Communications Dept

All employees got a bonus in December and all employees are getting a raise this July.

120 vacation hours after the first year

salary is fair and comparable to industry standards

profit sharing/bonuses for good station performance

Review from Operations Dept

Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?

I don't feel undervalued but I do believe there's an opportunity to significantly improve health care benefits. Spouses eligible for health care elsewhere are not eligible for Gray health care even at a premium. That can be tricky.

News stations are 24/7/365 operations. The environment is stressful and takes a toll on employees' wellbeing. Gray does not do enough to make up for that. Its employees constantly run toward tragedy, fight to improve ratings and miss holidays, etc with family. You get a 1.5% annual raise, on average

For a 4-yr degree job, the pay is poor. The pay is not keeping up with inflation. No one can survive on $33K !

I was started on the 3rd of the month. Due to gray policy, i had to wait 2 months to get insurance. And they are very poor policies. I am averaging around 15$. Which is now the minimum wage in my area. It is uncompetitive for the work they expect done.

A legitimate raise and hours that arent horrible.

Review from Engineering Dept

Management is grossly under qualified to lead.

Being paid more than the poverty line

Review from Communications Dept

Pay is a little low for this market and the position I hold

They don't pay based on merit. You get a cost of living raise and nothing more. No reason to do better they don't recognize effort

Review from Engineering Dept

As a news producer, I've never been paid adequately for the actual amount of time I spend working.

Review from Communications Dept

20 years on the job, $18 an hour, getting laid off. 14 weeks severance. Insurance expensive coverage is low.

Review from Engineering Dept

Salary pay would be nice seeing how every other station gets paid $5 more an hour than I do for the same Position

We were just bought by Grey our benefits went down the toilet, we lost paid time off, and pay stayed the same. All they care about is the money they get to keep
