Gray Television Leadership Employee Reviews

What do you like best about the leadership team?

At least the people in charge have some experience.

They know how to run a business even with it’s challeng

Open dialogue, respectful, family-friendly, goal-focused.

The leadership team is very approachable.

Aggressively competitive, interested in strategic growth and longevity.

They are hands off and are not in touch with people.

Accommodating , nice, patient , transparent , thoughtful

hands off, no micromanaging autonomy

Review from Communications Dept

Communication is transparent. We're a big company now but they haven't lost the feeling of caring about us like family.

GET THE JOB DONE. DEFINITELY A FIERCE LEADER WHO HAS GAINED THE RESPECT HE DESERVES.

Review from Communications Dept

Freedom to make my own executive decisions

They try to make everyone feel important

Fairly open book about things about the company

Review from Operations Dept

Excellent collaboration and transparency at every level

Transparent and consistent communication. They care.

they care about you as a person

Lets us personally take control of our jobs

Some station leadership teams are great but others are out of touch. And the greatest leaders' hands are tied by corporate policy when they would like to treat their employees better. It's nice having a news director or manager in your corner -- but realize they must answer to corporate.

What does the leadership team need to get better at?

Making smarter decisions. Quit firing good people

Listening to the needs of their staff and field crews who are instrumental in creating the content that allows them to be successful.

Communication is lacking across the board and the current managers could run a master class on how not to handle employees.

Everything they run everyone into the ground and under pay all of production a person who has been there 6 years doesn't get paid over 10 a hour

We have a general manager and that is all. There is a very poor breakdown of power, as well as managers who are only concerned about money. There is no overhead. No hr person on site. No one except GM.

Putting his foot down, standing up for himself and other employees. Being fair, not playing favorites.

Review from Engineering Dept

Providing workshops to better skills

Review from Communications Dept

Communicating and leading effectively. Right now, there are too many cooks in the kitchen.

Review from Communications Dept

When this company takes over they start firing/laying off everyone with any kind of tenure! Their severance package is a slap in the face, one weeks pay for each year of employment, up to 14. And Merry Christmas you're out of a job 2 weeks before Christmas. This company is all about their money

Review from Engineering Dept

This company is all about the money. The employee is 100% insignificant. People working at my station for 20+ years are being laid off so they can hire me people cheaper. They are eliminating a dozen positions leave before they are ready for us to... No date given.. . We lose severance pay

Review from Engineering Dept

Communication communication communication empathy and fairness
