Help Scout Compensation Employee Reviews

What is the best part about your compensation package?

The company pays 100% of your health benefits.

If I move to a more expensive city, my compensation will increase automatically.

Help Scout executes annual salary comparisons across the market to ensure they are paying people fairly. Love that.

Review from Engineering Dept

OK salary. Super hard to level up. Poor options amount compared to other companies.

Review from Engineering Dept

Work hours flexibility. Health benefits paid for me and the immediate family.

Review from Engineering Dept

An stipend amount to cover for Health & Dental Insurance, Accountant costs.

Review from Engineering Dept

No stock options, and no stock-option mentality: no vesting, no mysterious valuations, no weird tax traps, no distorted incentives, no eternally delayed IPO, no hush-hush private cash-outs for a select few. Our financials are transparent, our salaries are transparent, they pay me with money! Hooray!

Review from Engineering Dept

Learn Something Stipend - money to help you learn and grow your skills :-)

I, at least, am paid way above market. Remote first life is also top notch, as is getting health care completely paid for by the company.

Our pay and performance are fairly evaluated and it's very clear what you need to accomplish to get a promotion/raise.

Help Scout is extremely fair when it comes to compensation. They're completely transparent and you always know where you stand, where you're going, and what it takes to get there.

Review from Engineering Dept

Compensation is way above market rate, and always fair.

Internal transparency provided by our salary formula

Review from Engineering Dept

Help Scout covers 100% of employee + family medical, among other generous benefits.

I'm torn between the excellent benefits package with full covered healthcare and the flexible time off!

Compensation is very competitive, especially if you work remotely and live in an area with a low cost of living. Salaries are competitive within a medium high market like Boston, so it's a big win!

Review from Engineering Dept

Annual cost of living adjustments are separate from our performance based increases!

Salary is just one component (and a very good one)... The entire package is geared towards keeping people happy and engaged.

Review from Engineering Dept

Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?

If we did sell but some information was wrong we as employees would get pay taken away

Every employee could leave Help Scout and find a job making 20%+ more money tomorrow. If money & equity is your goal you should pick somewhere else. People don't work at Help Scout for the potential earnings, they work at Help Scout because of the quality of life they can build around work.

We have defined pay levels but the progression through them or whether you match the description is not obvious.

Review from Engineering Dept

Salary band progression and pay levels descriptions are not obvious to how they are rated or implemented. Domain knowledge doesn't seem as highly rated as it should be.
