I love the tasks and duties I have as a stockman but many times I'm asked to do things in a time frame that are beyond capable of being done. I've come to love most but not all managers and assistant managers. Plenty of occasions I'm being yelled at and treated poorly over simple miscommunications.

How secure do you feel at your job at Hobby Lobby?
Not at all.
What are the team outings like at Hobby Lobby?
What? What "team" outings? There is no such thing! I tried to facilitate something based on this idea with co-workers and only 2 out of 14 was interested. There are no incentives, no appreciation events. We have a weekly snack day, and birthdays are posted, otherwise employee "Team" outings are not a part of the "Big Picture".
How difficult is it to maintain a social life while in your job at Hobby Lobby?
When it comes to closing at a reasonable hour and providing Sundays off, well then- the company is mindful of social lives however, that seems a very irrelevant question.
What kind of people succeed at Hobby Lobby?
Number one is only those who can work a full schedule are those who move up or get promotion or raises. It appears that only the Workaholics, people pleasers, those who don't make waves,or yes people willing to just do what they are told without question are the ones considered as "successful' at Hobby Lobby.
How's the feedback process at Hobby Lobby?
To my knowledge the only feedback or input is for management or department heads and it is done among themselves. There is no feedback process and if so its of a hierarchy format, where only those in leadership positions have a say or you have to go through HR.
How do you feel about going to work at Hobby Lobby everyday?
While I don't work "everyday" ,am thankful for whatever hours that are provided me every single day that is worked. Although feel held back and stagnate from moving up within the companies practices, truly do enjoy working with co-workers, people and customers. Taking the GOAL concept seriously, my intention is to make the customer experience memorable while providing the best service so they return to Hobby Lobby and by doing the best I can at my job. Out of all the retail establishments out there, truly am grateful to work in retail heaven known as hobby lobby, however don't appreciate being stuck in one position or disregarded for promotion simply because of part time or other status.

office is only for management. walk in the door and the desk is facing you as walk in. pretty open spaced.

other than a 15% employee discount for purchases, part time associates/employees do not get any unique perks or other benefits whatsoever.
What's one thing you wish you'd known before joining Hobby Lobby?
That you don't get regular raises dependent upon your value, hard work, or performance and instead are paid the same as everyone else where the full time employees move up in the company and are provided departments, regular hours, great pay, benefits and are secure within the company's totem pole of worthiness.
How's the morale at Hobby Lobby?
waxes and wanes depending upon numerous factors such as: stressor's revolving around constant transition, many dept heads taking on several depts at once, leadership/management styles, lack of team communication opportunities-including feedback/input/meetings/presenting new ideas etc; expectations/purpose/appreciation not evident so many employees are overworked and feel underappreciated so the Morale is quite low.

It’s a 5 page paper application, then a sit down with manager, after that point of hiring there is a ‘math/common sense’ test. If passed; paperwork, employee handbook is given & the watching of Company videos is set/up.
What part of Hobby Lobby's business is growing fastest? What part is having difficulties?
Most departments see a growth, but the top 3 are usually Home Decor, Crafts & Floral...with occasional jumps in Seasonal. Arts & Hobbies, Framing & Scrapbooking stay constant usually depending on times of the year.
If you could make changes, how would you improve the culture at Hobby Lobby?
I would screen my managers a LOT more carefully and hold them to a higher standard. I would advise them to not play favorites, praise more often & jump in and roll up their own sleeves more.
