They need to work on being professional. Be civil to people you don't like and keep gossip and favoritism out of the workplace.
It's taken for granted that you will put the center's needs above yourself and family. They run on a skeleton crew. Make it easier to make a doctor's appointment or a family day. Listen to concerns, find ways to deal with the gossipping, let people keep overtime but not be overworked.
