Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
You have a huge responsibility in caring for and educating someone's child. There is also a lot required, should be compensated accordingly.

I think day care staff as a whole is under paid and undervalued. My hours are cut to under full time status to keep from having benefits.

People who stick with day care work are really in it because of their passion for early childhood education and are heros.

What's going wrong and how can it be improved?
The people higher up (Director, regional manager, etc) need to be more willing to help their employees. If the employees aren’t happy, the kids aren’t happy. In return, the parents won’t be happy.
