If you could make changes, how would you improve the culture at Marriott?
Top Employee Response
I would raise the wage for employees to make more money because they are very very important to keeping the hotel running, without them the hotel wouldn't survive. I wish the owners would have more compassion towards the employees cause I have not seen that. And if you say you do have compassion, prove it. From what I seen the owners managers and so on treat there employees like slaves. I'm sorry but that exactly how I feel. It's sad.
Drop in surprise visits to hotels and call centers. To see the day to day unproductive staff and management. Security issues need to be addressed.
more communication between departments
What's the office vibe like at Marriott?
Top Employee Response
My employees are good and i love them. I'll do anything for this company but if they paying you below the market it just sad to say it isn't fair. Can someone tell me is $38000 plus a year is fair when your handling 2 departments? It's also sad when your superior thinks it's just fair. Really sad coz i like working for marriott. I guess franchisee marriotts are just low ballers and they ask you to do more than you already have.
HQ is very meeting centered so people are always running around and talking to each other. It is easy to make friends. We have a casual dress code (jeans). Work from home and flexible work schedules are dependent on your manager so some people have more strict schedules than others. It feels like a very flexible environment but there is still a lot of corporate hierarchy and politics. Folks who work remotely seem to have a harder time navigating the politics.
Unprofessional
