We have an amazing leadership team

Just the supervisors and some management. Anyone above management don’t show they actually car
I choose not to comment.
Communicating vision and direction more clearly, accountability of the managers. Improve communication overall. Since they removed the access from home feature, it is difficult to keep up. The "news break" is not a real break ("do it as fast as you can") and there is rarely time to use it.
Communicating and stop silly games to win cheap crappy food prizes as in trying to lift the spirit in the store. When people have their rolling average rolled back 50% and are loosing their health benefits. A cost that prevents the company from being profitable.
Take care of their hourly employees! REI would be nothing without them.
They've lost their passion. It's a McJob.

The leadership team at REI is really good at saying, "Heard," while simultaneously dismissing any suggestions for improvement that employees make. 275 people were laid off about a week ago. Experienced, dedicated, loyal employees lost their livelihoods so that REI could hire 1300 more people.
I earn vacation and sick leave as a part-time worker and have a generous medical leave package. REI also contributes to my retirement.

Pro Deals that give me a big discount off gear
Time off, investment opps, health/dental/eye care, discounts
There is flexibility on choices. And, they offer investment options along with 401K.
Base pay and bonus are more than fair
Its really hard to move up with REI. The longer you are there, the more you feel stuck and under-appreciated.
Roadmaps are ignored for reactionary decisions without data or explanation
undervalued and need to give out better raises
PG loves to fire people.
That’s hard to say. I have been with the company for 15 years. There use to be so many good things. There isn’t much good left anymore. A lot of the things that had made the company great and fun have been taken a
They care about each other and are good about communicating appreciation and working togwther to split up tasks.

Great people, fun team environment.
MOst of them are very experienced and good team players
Quite pleasant to one another.
At our core we are technically smart and capable of achieving great things
Work as a team, not for their own benefit, communicate more effectively
Culture of meetings. Endless Teams meetings to have a presence (on the corporate level). Depending on department or project folks may not have a lot of work to do and so maintaining the visual presence and "corporate appearance" is an important thing here.
Actual supervision on the floor. Wonder if the managers will ever stop hiding in the basement.
Being treated better by managers
Not waste so much time on bonding meetings to supposedly encourage improvement feeback at the same time they punish employees for having negative feeback particularly about the terrible software they consistently buy without consulting the relevant team first. Our tools are very outdated
Respect and encouragement at all levels.

support of eachother, meaningful mission and purpose
When its fun, its great!
We introduce people to outdoor activities
Everyone feels valued. Lots of opprtunities for learning about new gear. Super suppotive
Value employees more and listen to feedback
I don't work there anymore because they broke me. I worked hard assed restaurants for 35 years. I came to REI with a great story and great enthusiasm and REI broke me. I have never worked in an environment where I wasn't recognized and rewarded for my hard work
Stop being a bunch of liberal d bags
Feedback from employees and doing what we communicate, interacting with customers via chauk biards, maps etc

Better management of the employees better benefits employees go forward as they say not backwards. Stop taking away our good benefits.
Review from Operations Dept
The initial video interview allowed for multiple takes and the in person interview was with two people (and felt more like a conversation than an interview).
Review from Customer Support Dept
Getting to meet the team was great.
Hiring managers are not properly trained to initiate effective interviews
It was virtual and relatively easy
Answering only three questions that asked for very simple answers.
Can you read paper plastic? They can't seem to do anything right the new employees do whatever they want and don't get in trouble for anything.
Review from Operations Dept
I'm not sure as my interview was over an hour

Helping customers who are appreciative of my expertise.

Interacting with people. Being creative. Working with like-minded people.
Being treated fairly, good communication, co-worker interaction. The discounts are great, too. Overall, our customers are fantastic.
Compensation is fair and my team is great to work with
Helping my coworkers and customers.
We are investing in people. We are investing in making the customer experience easier.

As a former employee of REI, I go out of my way to shop local outfitters.
Gone down the path of wokeness and race baiting
REI can voluntarily recognize unions and stop their illegal union busting. Stop opening more stores and start paying your employees livable wages.
Everything y'all have a lot of work to do if you want happy workers. Employees at my store said they were unhappy with how things were being run and the store manager told them they were wrong for feeling that way. Work on listening skills

It's Values, Culture and vision!

Some in the company are stuck in 'old management' styles and need to adjust or move out of the way. They are hurting growth and development for many in the company and do not align with the way REI is doing things now.
