I've been with Steak N Shake for 6 years. It's been hard at times, sometimes extremely stressful, but this place has paid a lot of my bills and I have much more now than I used to before working here. I also met some great people.
What did you like most about the interview process?
I really wasn't interviewed. I was hired on the spot.
What do you like best about the leadership team?
I like many of my coworkers and I dislike some as well. I'm sure that's the way it is everywhere you go.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
I like the fact that when you work in fast food, you get to make someone happy everyday. You also get to meet new people and it's a stepping stone to more work opportunities.
What are some of the best things about your team?
Some workers are better than others. I can't stand people who are always late or always calling in. If I was in management, this would be the first thing that is addressed. It creates so much chaos and disorder when someone calls in. It also shows that they don't care about their coworkers.
What's going wrong and how can it be improved?
The computer system is dated and slow. The computers need to be faster and I think the entire layout of everything should be less complicated and simpler. I also hate that the cashier has little control over the register functions. It's pretty much the managers job to make every little edit or void.
