The idea of the inverted pyramid sounds great, but it is just an idea. I really get discouraged by the lack of transparency and accountability. Or by how you have to work on your personality to fit the mold. Why not celebrate people for who they are and appreciate hard work? Why shelter abuse?

Two-tiered interview, friendly chat, approachable mate/Captain.
What are some of the best things about your team?
To work with a bit more mature employees, people with different backgrounds who have had some real life experiences.
What needs to change to make the company culture better?
A more active Captain with a stronger voice; more engaged, hard working mates to set role models for the fast changing student crew population.

What is the best part about your compensation package?
My starting wage reflected my work experience I had earned through my previous employment. For my hard work I also got two stellar reviews that clearly showed appreciation.
What do you like best about the leadership team?
The opened up channel of communication with the regional head in case any sort of communication was needed. The genuine voice and the reassuring logic of the regional to put issues into perspective even though no tangible results could be expected.
