I really appreciate that the Trader Joe's model creates a space where leadership and fresh crew members have many of the same responsibilities. A majority of the tasks we complete are perpetually shared across levels of pay-grade/titles. It makes for a more comfortable work environment.

Friendships that help you swim through the lack of integrity. Lazy workers can be lazy if they boost captains ego while everyone else is scrambling to get store to open.

Asking many questions and getting good answers

I really appreciated how the point seemed to be to gauge what type of person I am, rather than some templated series of canned questions that lead nowhere and serve primarily as a formality.

It was super laid back, the manager (captain) and one of the assistant managers gave it to me outside at a table, and gave me a free snack and water. They were so friendly and we mostly just chatted. I didn't even know one was the manager until I was hired.
